I offered him. Cullen stared at me, surprised. I had to think more about his offer. Turning around, I wave my hand. I heard Liam ask him to follow him. Cullen said nothing back; he just kept staring at me. As I headed to my office, I sat and checked my computer. I remember their two clans in the Kingdom of North I’m interested in. Not only they’re the most prominent clan, but they’re rich in minerals. As I go through the clans, I see that one of them belongs to King Nikolas. Frowning, I click on the family—clan of the Mist. I saw mountain ranges and rivers surrounding the clan. It was secluded and far away from the cities.

I wonder which of them is the lesser evil. Alaric who ruined my life, or the King who would have forced his son spend the rest of his life with a woman he didn’t love. Said woman is me. Rune, my ex, is the Lycan King’s son, and the only heir to the throne. We might have married, were it not for Rune’s last minute epiphany to dump me at the altar. I wonder what it would have been like to take Sinclair down my horrible memory lane while he held me against his chest. Would he have kissed my cheek and promised to love me like no one else could?

Each strike against the stone sent sparks of light into the air, but the runes resisted, glowing brighter and stronger as if mocking our efforts. “It’s not working!” Nova shouted, her voice cracking with frustration. “Keep trying!” I yelled back, refusing to give in. But even as I struck the runes again and again, I felt the futility in my movements. Behind us, Killian and the Rogue King clashed in a violent storm of teeth and claws, their snarls echoing through the clearing. Killian’s golden wolf fought with unrelenting power, but the Rogue King’s speed and cunning gave him an edge, keeping the battle balanced on a knife’s edge.

"Then we buy you time." I turned to Kael, Ronan, and Zephyr. "Protect the King. Keep the guards off him until every lock is broken." Kael drew his blade, his obsidian eyes blazing. "We've got your back." Ronan's claws extended, the steel gleaming. "Let them come." Zephyr moved to the King's side, his silver eyes sharp, his hands glowing with a faint, blue light. "I will guard the rear." The King pressed his hands to the first lock, his golden eyes closing in concentration. The runes flickered, resisting his touch. But slowly, painfully, they began to dim.

Solenn's Diamond Pack wolves then joined in. "Listen up!" Timothy announced. "I'm Timothy from the Renoir Pack, and I'm challenging the Alpha King to a fight. I'm going to be the next Alpha King." I couldn't help but roll my eyes. He was ready to take me down for Etizia. I thought I was crazy, but Timothy had definitely outdone me in the insanity department. "Think you can beat me?" I snarled.

He's always avoided fighting on most occasions especially with Damian. They both turn to me in regards. I sigh, rubbing a point at the bridge of my nose before adding. “Don't make a disgrace of yourselves.” I hold Damian's gaze. “Rune is a war strategist, his opinion is just as important,” Damian growls at me, I tsk at his stubbornness, “do I need to remind you who's been driving us to victory in every war game with the Red Moon pack, Damian?” I mention, pinning him with a warning glare and he settles, shutting down his aggression as he looks back at Rune, briefly holding his gaze.

Rune let out a growl, a deep, primal sound that sent a shiver down my spine. "You think you can control me, Alora?" His voice was low, rough, like gravel in his throat. "You think you can play this game and win?" I smirked, pressing my body even closer to his, letting the heat of his skin seep into mine. "Oh, Rune," I whispered, my breath ghosting over his lips, "I don’t just think I can win. I KNOW I can."

Max ordered through the pack link. " The king is here!" Someone announced. And my body took off without reason, I know it was because Rayna, was still in complete control. I slowed down in my bid to reach him when I imagined how I looked, with dirt and blood all over me, I must look a sight. But I couldn't stop, I am the freaking queen, how I look right now is irrelevant to the fact that a pack where I was visiting has just been attacked. I don't think Stefan had reached the capital before coming back.
