I asked, noticing there were a lot of people coming out of the pack and a lot more going in. He glanced towards the entrance and exclaimed, "Hey, there's a carnival happening tonight! I thought you'd enjoy going. It's going to be a blast, I guarantee it!" I rolled my eyes. I wasn't a fan of parks because it was crowded, too many couples having fun and holding hands like the place was built solely for them. Uhm, excuse me, stop intimidating the single ones. And lastly, there were too many rides that had a lot of distance between the seats and the ground. I was scared of heights. And I couldn't tell him any of my reasons.

“She invited us all to a Halloween theme park. You know, one of those nighttime amusement parks with the creepy haunted rides, jump scares, mazes, full-on scary season.” Melinda raised her brows, amused. “That actually sounds like hell.” Chloe sat up, eyes sparkling despite herself. “Are you kidding? That sounds like so much fun. We’re definitely going!” Zoe clapped like a kid on Christmas morning. “Yes! I knew you’d say that. Costumes, snacks, haunted rollercoasters, it’s going to be epic.” Melinda sighed, feigning defeat but already smiling. “Fine. But if a clown touches me, I’m setting him on fire.”

LUCIAN’S POV The sound of celebration and excitement could be heard from a distance as our black SUV and the convo escorting us stopped at the Moonbound carnival ground. The rhythm of the drum was heard as well as the scent of roasted meat and sweet pastries that was carried by the evening breeze.

Chapter 17 Present "The carnival?" I send AJ a look, furrowing my eyebrows in confusion. I thought we were going to do something fun. I hate carnivals. I don't like being thrown around everywhere -- this is literally child's play. "Candy floss, rides, clowns, games, colors, noise; what's not to like?" she says and then lets go of my hand, staring up at the Ferris wheel in excitement. You'd think she's a two-year-old.

Without hesitation, we followed the arrow and found ourselves in a bustling fairground. The sound of joyful laughter, the smell of cotton candy, and the colorful lights instantly transported us to a world of whimsy. We threw caution to the wind, becoming kids again as we rode exhilarating roller coasters, tried our luck at carnival games, and indulged in every delightful treat we could find. As we stood beneath a dazzling fireworks display, Wyatt turned to me, his face lit up with pure joy. "Who would have thought that a spontaneous adventure would lead us to this magical carnival? It's moments like these that remind me of the beauty of embracing the unexpected."

I teased her as we got outta the car and walked towards the gates of the amusement park together. I couldn't deny the fact that I needed the distraction to get away from all the drama that has been happening lately… “Come on Girl!” Catty pulled me along as she ran towards the ice cream truck.. I just followed her with a smile on my face.. as she ordered ice cream for me.. “What ride do you wanna try First?” She asked and I rubbed my chin while thinking about the ride to try out first.. “How about the Juggler? I heard it's one of the scariest rides here?” I asked and Catty squeaked with happiness..

she sighed, and I chuckled. With laced fingers, we went to the foyer, where I found Stormee´s family, minus Ralph. "Now you look normal." Enzo joked, and I laughed. He always said that we dressed like a Renaissance Fair in the human realm. I need to check what he means by that to know if I should take offense. Who am I kidding? I will never be offended by Enzo's jokes. We took our carriages to the carnival, and when we arrived, it was like a fairy tale come true: games, balloons, a stage for a show, rides, food, and so much more. Kids were jumping up and down while their parents smiled at their enthusiasm.

“After the daytime hunting, they will camp out in the woods, build tents, and stay the night. Because it is so far away from the city, the public’s eyes, they will…go crazy. A carnival, a fucking boarish and goaty one.” Aurora frowned. Her stomach swirled in disgust. “How crazy are we talking about here?” she asked.

Twenty minutes later, I pulled into the parking lot of Luna Park, a carnival that had set up on the edge of the city for the summer. Bright lights, cheerful music, the smell of cotton candy and popcorn... everything that was the opposite of the heavy, suffocating world we'd been drowning in. Veronica stared at the colorful entrance, the spinning rides, the game booths, like she couldn't quite believe what she was seeing. "A carnival?" she said. "A carnival," I confirmed. "You said you missed being twelve. So let's be twelve for a few hours. No press, no scandals, no family drama. Just... fun."
