The destiny of our pack remained shrouded in the haze of war, obscured by the fog of uncertainty. As the battle raged on, a desperate realization crept into my mind. Our strength waned, our numbers dwindled, and the once formidable Athens pack found itself on the precipice of defeat. The weight of that possibility settled heavily upon me, threatening to crush my spirit. The image of my pack being defeated, of myself being captured and held captive, flashed vividly in my mind like a chilling omen.

It’s almost like she just copied the book. About an hour into it, Legolas found the notes telling which war happened where. I had Legolas read out to me while I wrote down W1, W2, etc. next to each ‘X’. That’s when I saw it. War 1 was located in what is now known as Russia. War 2 was located in now known as Canada. War 3 was located in now known Mexico. War 4 was located in now known Mid-West USA. “Hey look at this.” I called out to Legolas who was sitting on the other side of the table from me.

The second he burst through the front door, Vittorio’s heart didn't settle. Instead, it plummeted into a bottomless abyss. The penthouse was terrifyingly empty. It was spotless, sterile, and felt exactly like a high-end property waiting for a new owner. There wasn't a single trace of Isabella left. The photo wall that she used to cherish so much was completely bare.

And everything else disappeared. ******** Seven Years Later (Isabella) Rochester didn’t look the same. Or maybe I didn’t and that was because I had become that which the matron wanted me to be. For me. For the people who I held close to my heart. The car stopped in front of a tall glass building, and for a second, I just sat there staring at it. My heart wasn’t racing. It wasn’t calm either. It was somewhere in between… like it didn’t know how to feel about coming back to a place that buried me alive.

This was my home for a long time, but I have nothing left here, no friends, no family, Everything swept away within the space of a couple Months. Let me start from the beginning. It is 2027 mid June. Our world has gone into crisis. Wars have been breaking out everywhere. Homes have been bombed, peoples lives lost. History, art, architecture, Everything that has been preserved and kept now lost in a cloud of smoke. This is World War III.

I immediately place a steadying hand against her lower back before turning back toward the Elder. “What exactly happened?” I ask. The Elder walks slowly toward the window before speaking again. “The first pair triggered a civil war after rival Alphas attempted to separate them,” she says. “The second pair disappeared mysteriously before the prophecy fully awakened.” “And the third?” I ask carefully. Her silence alone is enough to make my blood run cold. Finally, she answers. “The third pair slaughtered hundreds.” Jasmine gasps softly beside me. Selene’s confident expression finally cracks slightly. But Elder Miriam quickly continues before panic fully settles.

It was a domestic scene frozen in time, a reminder of the life they had almost touched. ​The "hood days" were over. The mist was rising, and the Jackals were looking. The war was followed them to the heights, and as the heavy steel doors of the vault hissed shut, Vivienne realized that peace wasn't a place you found—it was a territory you had to defend until the very end.
