It took long hours to tell Maddie everything she needed to know. Selena talked about her mother's death, her father's rage against her, her grandmother and her pack. She also told her about Lucas, and how she could instantly tell he and Demi were werewolves as soon as she saw them. Maddie wanted to ask more related to that new-found world, but Selena wanted to tell her about the mate bond first, so Maddie could understand everything she was about to say.

The male character fought for the female character even though fate separated them several times. She thought that maybe Lyon’s came to his mind the time they were reading this book together. She put it in her backpack. Then she went to the kitchen. She suddenly stopped...she seemed to see Lyon wearing a white t-shirt happily cooking breakfast for her.

Selena’s POV I entered Raymond’s room first and I closed the door behind me before I rushed toward his study to see if I would find anything meaningful on his computer or hidden inside any book in the study but it was hard finding anything with shaky hands because I was scared he would come in to catch me snooping through his things and that was going to be bad for me. Still in the middle of searching while I looked over my shoulder occasionally to see if he was coming, I stumbled upon a book whose pages were all cut to make a hole in the middle of the book when I opened it and inside the book were tiny papers that looked like they held passwords.

Selena smiled lovingly at her daughter, her rainbow baby. “I needed this. I have spent way too many months surrounded by testosterone.” Serenity groaned, between Xander and her brothers, she was slowly starting to lose her mind. “You seriously have no female friends?” Selena cocked an amused eyebrow as she poured Gracies milkshake into her sippy cup. “Well, I have Olympia, she’s my brother’s girlfriend- I think? We’re not really that close, but I would like to get to know her better. Other than that, I haven’t really reached out to any of my old friends.” Serenity bit her lip.

I muttered to myself, being with Zarek now means no freedom. Across the room, Leila was already sitting on the chair, her legs crossed and her arms folded. She didn’t even let Zarek sit down, when she heard the sound of the door, she spoke up. “I’ll say it again,” she said coldly. “Selene can’t be the one who is mated to you, she can never be your mate. She’s an exiled Luna. She’s disgraced. She’s the ex-mate of your friend.”

He treated her like she wasn’t valuable, and I knew all about it from the start because I heard his side remarks about her to his mother. I wanted to tell her, a part of me wanted to help her return to her pack when Lucian began his Alpha training and stopped coming home, it hurt me everytime I saw her like that, waiting for him to come home and enduring all the horrible things Brinny did to her in that mansion. Selena was a strong woman, and that was when my feelings towards her took a romantic turn. She was the very definition of perfection and her scent pulled me in, in ways I knew shouldn’t be entertained but I couldn’t help myself and I eventually gave in to what I shouldn’t have given
