When they were safely tucked inside, I grabbed her hand and ran out of the parking lot towards the forest.
Out of sight of our fellow students, I took my shirt and shoes off.
“There’s no way I’m shifting with you,” she said.
“I’ll turn around, don’t worry.”
I had already unzipped my jeans, but she stood there fully dressed.
“For fuck’s sake, Eleonora, when did you last shift?”
“I haven’t shifted since my first shift when I turned sixteen,” she said.
“Isn’t your birthday in January? You haven’t shifted in ten months?”
