After a moment, she gathered two handfuls of sketch papers and practically skipped back to Nathan.
“Here!” she said brightly, handing them over with both palms like she was offering him treasure.
Nathan took them gently and began flipping through each one. The pages were filled with color and feeling... some rough, some carefully shaded. He recognized many of the faces—her, him, a cat they used to feed behind the house. Some were strange, abstract, and chaotic, but he didn’t ask. He never did.
“Wow. You drew me again,” he commented, holding up a new sketch of himself, sharp lines for his jaw, softer ones around his eyes.
