My gaze darted to the Lisa's notebook which she had been sketching on for a while, my eyes squinting on it as I tried to understand and make out a meaning behind her sketch. It had a drawing of a tall figure who stood alone, a silver helmet over his face with his eyes shut, hiding underneath the shadows of the moonlight on his bike. Then in the next sketch he was at the rooftop on all fours as if he was about to take a leap and in this sketch his eyes were pries open, a bloody mysterious vibe oozing out of the sketch like he was going to leap out of the notebook anytime soon. I gasped. I flipped from one page to the next and then the next. Most sketches were of me or the places Liv and I have been to. He even sketched the entire stage of the empty bar. I couldn't believe it. I had no idea he had a talent for this kind of things. All of the sketches were beautifully and amazingly done. That is him. That is a sketch of me. I was sitting in the field looking up at the stars with a smile on my face. Young, fourteen or fifteen maybe, with long dark hair and this smile that looks like it could light up an entire room. In some of the drawings she’s laughing at something off the page. In others she’s concentrating hard, her tongue stuck between her teeth the way kids do when they’re focused.

I sketched that at least a couple of weeks before Orlando got the call about his father. "Oh, I must see the others," Charles says. "I'd love it if you could send them to me." "I actually have my sketchbook right here," I admit, tentatively reaching into my bag. "But I'll warn you again - they're nothing special. Just little things I did for fun." We watch and take notes like the rest of the class, until Tyler decides he’s over it. He nudges my arm lightly. One is labeled You, and the other is labeled Me. The “me” stick figure is significantly taller. I bite down on a smile. “Don’t quit your day job, Brooks.” He grins, completely unbothered, and adds a tiny heart between them.
