His voice was loud enough to cut through the sonic boom. I looked up. From the hangar bays of the flagship, a swarm of black shapes dived toward us. They weren't drones. They were "Sky-Eaters"—bio-engineered wyverns with jet turbines grafted into their wings. The Council's answer to air superiority. One of them, a beast with a wingspan of forty feet and a jaw full of spinning saw-blades, locked onto us. It shrieked—a digital-organic scream that made my blood run cold.

Tower: "Good morning, Raven NightWing. Clear for takeoff, runway 28L. Climb and maintain FL340. Contact Flight Control on 125.5 for further clearance. Squawk 4321." Pilot Kieran: "Roger that, Metro City International Tower. Raven NightWing cleared for takeoff, runway 28L. Climbing to FL340. Contacting Flight Control on 125.5. Squawking 4321. Thanks, Tower." Tower: "You're welcome, Raven NightWing. Safe flight to Italy, Kie. Bon voyage!" As the plane hurtled down the runway, I felt my heart race with exhilaration. Holding a microphone and a card, he announced, "Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for attending this banquet. Taking this chance, I'd like to make an important announcement. Per a decision made by Mr. Owen Lockhart and the board of directors, 2% of the Lockhart Group's shares will be unconditionally gifted to Miss Robin Peck." The room erupted in shock. I looked up, disbelief flooding through me.

But maybe we can sneak out for a bit. "What are you waiting for? Hop on!" I invited Namir and Caius to get on the eagles back. It lowered itself and spread its wings on the ground so I could crawl up to its back. I really don't have any idea how to maneuver this. I already have the bow and I guess a hundred arrows on my bag. I hope this is already enough. I'll just recycle some in case of shortage. "I bet I can just tell her when to go right or left, correct?" I sneered clumsily at Namir.
