She was a secretary for one of the upper managers and she went on to tell me she was a no-holds-barred, eye-candy aficionado. They peppered me with endless questions about the players and their bodies. It was exactly what I needed. Skylar was usually part of their lunch group and she kept them up on the AAA—Abs and Ass Alert. And I wouldn't waste it on something as trivial as fun.” Carter smirked, his gaze flicking over her with amusement. “Ah, so you’re saying you showed up willingly? I’m honored. Must’ve finally realized your life was missing something.” Skylar deadpanned. “You’re right, Carter. My life was missing something—patience. And judging by the last five minutes, I’m about to lose whatever’s left of it.” I snorted, nudging Skylar. “Play nice.” Carter chuckled, unfazed. “You know, your sass would be a lot more convincing if you weren’t dressed like you actually wanted to impress me.”

He was the pompous asshole who'd gone off on her because she'd spilled coffee on him. Without bothering to issue a reply to his joke, Skylar looked back down at her cup off coffee. She picked up one of the cookies she'd bought along with coffee and tossed it into her mouth. It still tasted delicious, but it seemed like her tainted mood was preventing her from appreciating it completely. Mr. Don't-you-know-who-I-am tried again to get her attention. “That looks yummy. Can I take a bite?” Skylar rolled her eyes. “It would be a shame to know that you're broke despite how 'well-known' you are.”

........................ Skylar's P.O.V ............................. Have you ever heard the story of the underdog? The girl who no one liked? The girl that was abused hated by everyone? Well if you haven't, then here it is . My name is Skylar Alexis Daniels, (in short form S.A.D) yep that's my name I have a mother and no other sibling my father left my mom when I was still young. I was what you called the 'nerd' always gettin bullied by the so called "popular' kids in school.

He was so humiliated that he and his friends spread rumors that I was sleeping around, stringing multiple guys along at the same time. When Sally found out, he went after them one by one. He beat every single one of them until no one dared whisper my name again. One time, the boy who started the rumors called in a few of his friends. After school, they followed Sally down the hallway and shoved him through a floor-to-ceiling window. Sally never saw it coming. His entire body crashed through the glass, and he tumbled to the ground in a shower of broken shards. The fall was not far enough to cause anything serious, but both of his arms were slashed to ribbons by the fragments.
