The rays of lights were intruding the darkness inside the room. We were lying naked and I already know it was late. I was laid on bedsheet and she was laying naked above me. Her hairs were disheveled, hiding my face. A thin sheet of blanket were covering our body but I can still feel her warmth. Her head was resting on my chest and she was in deep slumber hearing my heartbeats. I honestly didn't want to wake her up. She been tired working alot these days, without taking much rest, neither I feel like moving her. The time has stopped for me there itself. I removed her hairstands to take a clear view of her and my breath hitched in throat.

For a whole month, all I did was attend meetings, sign documents, and have business negotiations. Elwood called me from other numbers, but whenever I saw a call from Sommerset, I rejected them. One day, after I finished work and went home, it was already late at night. Right after my tall and built assistant brought me out of the car and put me on my wheelchair, someone grabbed my arm and asked angrily, “Who’s this man, Morgan?” I looked over and saw Elwood. His hair was a mess, and his eyes were bloodshot. He looked really haggard.

I could hear the sadness in her voice. I watched as my beautiful mate fell asleep, once I knew she had fallen asleep, I removed the pillow wall she made, pulled her into my chest. I watched her throughout the night, not wanting her to leave my arms, I knew I never wanted a soulmate, but right now, I couldn’t have asked for anything more, she would make the perfect queen. I listened to her light snores as I drifted off into an endless sleep.

The moment the Last Witness revealed that the approaching shadows were responsible for the deaths of countless universes, the balance of existence reacted with something it had not felt in a very long time. Dread. Not the fear of defeat. Not the fear of pain. The fear of understanding that a danger exists beyond everything you thought was possible. The darkness beyond the fracture continued moving. Countless figures drifted through the graveyard of dead realities. They did not rush. They did not attack. They approached as though they had all the time that had ever existed, and perhaps they did.

A trick of my exhausted, stressed mind. “My apologies,” I managed, my voice sounding strange and thin to my own ears. “I… slept poorly.” The understatement was a canyon. “Dreams?” he asked, and my heart stopped. Could he know? Had he somehow been there? But his tone was casual, almost bored, as he picked up a data drive. He couldn’t know. It was impossible. “The mind processes the day’s events in strange ways,” I deflected, the words feeling like ash.

Prior to our altercation, I had swapped the counterfeit skincare products she bought because I was afraid she would ruin her skin and health. If it weren't for me, Miranda couldn't even afford to buy those counterfeit products. In the worst-case scenario, she might have starved to death long ago. Some people were just born ungrateful and undeserving of help, so I decided to take a step back and stop interfering. I left the dorm and chose to study in the library. Every second spent in that room with those girls felt suffocating, the lack of oxygen killing off my precious brain cells.

With no knowledge of which way to go, I hit something hard and I black out. The next thing I know I wake up screaming in my bed, I shiver uncontrollably as the dried sweat makes my hair stick to my head. The sheets tangled at the foot of the bed, but my heart beat is already slowing because I’m at home safe and secure from any of those monsters out there in the woods. It was just a nightmare. In all the 17 years of my life, that would have to be the scariest nightmare I have ever had. I know I can’t go back to sleep after having a nightmare like that, so I get my phone out and check the time, its 2 in the morning I still have 5 hours until I have to get up. What am I going to do? I figure I

Liv tosses and turns in her bed for the third time since she woke up two hours ago. She was tired when she went to bed, but after waking up in the middle of the night, she completely lost her sleep. The clock on her nightstand shows it's one forty in the morning, and she's suffering from insomnia. It's been a few months since she last had insomnia, since she started college. Liv sighs, sitting up in bed and brushing away some strands of hair that fall into her eyes. She pulls the lilac sheet that covered her body and throws it away, rubbing her eyes with the backs of her hands and searching for her slippers that are somewhere on the floor.
