As Kimberly approached the stream, she felt it before she touched it—cool, calming, but shifting, restless, like a living being that refused to be controlled. She knelt beside it, dipping her fingers into the surface. Immediately, images rippled in her mind- storms, floods, crashing waves, drowning silence. She gasped, pulling her hand back.
“It resists me,” she said softly.
“Water resists everyone,” Elara replied, stepping behind her. “It flows because it refuses to be bound. To master it, you do not fight its current. You become its current.”
