Author's POV. Sofia was in the sitting room, reading a book about supernaturals. Though she had learned about supernaturals during her tutelage in her father's pack, she had never seen these creatures before. They were strange and mysterious, but she was determined to uncover their identity and destroy them. She stared at the book and continued flipping the pages, searching for a glimpse or at least a picture that could give her an incline of them. The advice Royal had given her was still under contemplation. She wasn't sure about asking her mother because she wasn't trustworthy and had always been a blabbermouth.

I dump my bag on the floor and read through the shelf while pulling books out and mumble as I go. ‘Even a book can be dangerous in the wrong hands.’ ‘Ignite.’ ‘Hell is empty and all the devils are here.’ ‘You’ll make bad choices. Sometimes you’ll choose the best of bad ones.’ ‘Tuesday is Fucked.’ ‘Everything’s a game. And now it’s your turn.’ I have a stack of about 10 books before I abruptly stop. "Next isle." I say and we walk up and down the library isles. I climb and jump to get books off of shelves and Aidan has to catch me a couple of times when I fell.

"I'm Jayden, by the way. And you are...?" I laughed, feeling a spark of attraction. "I'm Sophia. Nice to meet you, Jayden” Jayden’s eyes locked onto mine, and I felt a shiver run down my spine. "Nice to meet you too,Sophia. Would you like to grab coffee sometime and talk more about UCF?" I hesitated for a moment, unsure of what to say. But then I smiled, feeling a sense of ease and friendliness. "Sure. I'd love to."

" Sophie asked and jogged towards Sage. "I do love my books, Sophie. I have books and collections from every century. It's the only way for me to become familiar with the place, especially with my abilities. And by the way, Sophie, when you are attacked by those demons or rogues, make sure to sever its head or break its neck; otherwise, they'll come after you when they regain their strength, and they will not be so unwise in killing you. Is that understood?" "Yeah, yeah." Such a boring dick!

"It's just… flying that far is gonna take forever. What if we die from the heat before we even get there?" I sighed. "Forget it. Maybe I should just call Raven and try to work with her." Before Blazewing could answer, I picked up my phone and dialed her number. Her voice came sharp and mocking. "What, can't handle the heat anymore? Finally coming to beg me?" I quickly explained, "The temperature's rising all over the world. The glaciers at the South Pole are probably gone by now. You've seen how much it's been raining lately." "So what? What's that got to do with me?" she shot back, totally indifferent.

Chapter 1 Sophia’s POV. I sat hunched over my textbooks in the dim glow of the empty college library wing, the pages blurring together after hours of cramming advanced lit theory into my skull while the whole building around me felt dead quiet and hollow. My thighs kept pressing together under the desk because my mind would not stay on the damn words no matter how hard I tried. Instead it kept sliding straight into that filthy secret place I hid from everyone, the one where I was not the quiet bookish girl who buried herself in notes all day.

"Without us, the accumulated knowledge of the centuries dies with the hardware! Without us, humanity returns to the dirt, cowering like animals before the inevitability of the grave! We are the only defense against the entropy of the universe!" "The grave isn't an enemy to be defeated by a machine," Sophia replied, her silver form growing brighter, shedding the last of its human opacity as she initiated the Final Formatting Command. "It’s the boundary that gives every human breath its value. A story that never ends isn't a masterpiece—it’s a life sentence. Today, I’m giving the world back the dignity of its ending."

“Not about mothers needing sleep.” “Don’t teach my child your hard‑ass mottos,” I say. “She already has my temper. She doesn’t need your standards.” He smirks. “Seems like an efficient combination,” he says. “Efficient for whom?” I ask. “The apocalypse?” He arches a brow. “Possibly.” Sofie wiggles down again and wanders to one of the bookshelves, eyes wide. “So many books,” she whispers. “They’re not toys,” I tell her automatically.

She no longer cared how long the time went by. The front door opened with a loud bang. Sophie didn’t bother lifting her head from her book—she already knew what would happen. Adrian would walk with hurried footsteps, scrambling to look for Sophie. Then he would start his speech, about how she misunderstood, or was dramatic, or making things into something they weren't. Sophie reached for her tea, making a bet with herself—of which scenario it would be.

The first thing Sophie did after opening her eyes was lock onto me on the sofa. I looked at her innocently. "Sophie, what are you talking about? I don't understand." She pushed herself upright, unwillingness filling her voice. "Why didn't you properly analyze the World Cup that day?" I scratched my head in confusion, my face flawless. "The World Cup book had already been handed entirely to you. "I thought it had nothing to do with me, so I didn't think about it anymore."
