What if the information we needed simply wasn't there? I reached out and touched the cover. Instantly, golden light burst from the pages. Micha and I both froze. Then—something that had never happened before happened. The book spoke. Its voice was ancient, layered, and echoing like someone whispering from a distant chamber. "Dearest reader, this book chose not to open earlier because the time was not right. Do not be shocked—I can speak. I am called the Living Book for a reason." Micha and I exchanged stunned looks but nodded quickly.

Turning the cover for me to see he said, “So this is your favorite book, huh?” Wondering what had him looking so sly I focused my eyes on the cover and I immediately felt a rush of heat flare through my body. The cover had a picture of the naked anatomy of a man and woman embracing each other sensually and the title read, ‘100 ways to spice up your life.' “If this is what you were here searching for in the library then I don’t think I have any problem,” he laughed patronizingly, and flicking through the pages he stopped at one and reading the words on it he continued, “Try being intimate in random or unfamiliar places-”

The book was older than anything Olivia had ever seen, its cover a deep shade of maroon, almost dark enough to be black, with intricate golden symbols etched into the surface. When her fingers brushed the pages, she felt the pulse of magic flow through her. It was as if the book itself recognized her touch—knew that she was the one meant to uncover its secrets.

I returned a favoring smile to her by doing it genuinely before I took the book on her soft palm, an almost thick book with a blue cover. The book is heavy. On the front cover, there is a closed eye with long black thick lashes in a form of feathers placed inside a pentagon. Outside the badge has a wonderful abstract ocean and sunrise. Below it, golden embossed letters are shining to make its cover spectacular: BOOK OF A ZONER "Begin reading from page two to page five," Psyche said to me, stopping me in amazement. So I did what she wanted me to do. I flipped the pages until I reached the second page of the book. I started reading what's on it.

She said as she handed me the book. I contemplate each feature of the book, and I can say nothing is special about it. Aside from two things. It has a hardbound leather cover embroidered with gold. It’s old fashioned, I can say. “No one has read that yet maybe because they won’t be able to can open that." She said, and that what caught my attention. Why would a book not be able to be open? It has no lock in the first place! "And, by the way, the last one to open that was Paxton." She said and suddenly disappear in just a snap.

Grabbing a large one, I hide the test inside. Praying that my blush isn’t obvious as I giggle nervously I raise the book above my head. “I needed a break and wanted a new book, so I came over here and thought I’d try something different.” “Oh,” he looks at the title. Blinks twice, and then responds, “I’ve heard that one is pretty good.” I take a moment to look up at the book. On the cover is a picture of a woman wearing a dress with a torn bodice locked in a romantic embrace with a handsome centaur. The title implies something regarding the size of his anatomy and I feel myself burning in embarrassment.

“But someone online recommended a dark romance book and I really want to check it out.” My eyes scanned the shelves, my gaze snagging on a particularly striking cover. It was dark, almost black, with the title splashed across it in stark blood-red letters. “Dark Temptation,” I read aloud, picking up the book. “Is this it?” Pauline leaned in, narrowing her gaze at the cover. “Huh. I’ve seen that one online. It’s pretty popular, actually.” She paused, then shook her head. “But no. I couldn’t read that.”

“Calm down Celene, the book..it's not going anywhere.” I didn't bother answering him, he couldn't possibly understand what was at stake, I would finally understand what had happened to my people, why my mother had made the decision she had…I could finally understand my true nature…everything. The book looked unassuming tightly wrapped with a dark red clothed cover, embossed on it, a wolf painted silver, excitedly I slowly unwrapped its cover. The rhythmic pounding of my heart is a testament to my eagerness to learn. Yellowed pages delicately sewn in come into view, My eyes turn to meet Alex in a glance as he leans closer, his eyes a mix of curiosity and amusement.

I squinted my eyes and glared at her. Tentatively, she removed the paper cover of her book. Underneath was a far cry from the gently paper cover. The paper cover had a street with cherry blossoms blooming on each side. The title ‘Never Apart’ indicated a soft romance. The ‘real’ book cover, the one hidden under cherry blossoms was a half naked man, He had no shirt and showed tight muscles. all over his torso were tattoos His hand enclosed the throat of a blonde girl, she was dressed in a shirt probably his because of how large it is. Her head is thrown back in obvious pleasure and the title is ‘Choke me Harder.’ Definitely nothing a sophisticated young miss should read.
