All Of Us Are Dead
Like he hadn’t heard the Game Master’s order to proceed, like he wasn’t surrounded by guards or half-dead survivors, like he was somewhere else entirely in his head.
Something was wrong with him.
The Game Master’s voice cut through the tension before I could spiral further.
“Move along, contestants!” it sang out cheerfully. “We have so much more fun to come. Energy, people, energy!”
Someone behind me muttered a curse under their breath. Another person started sobbing quietly.
I was still watching Hoodie Guy out of the corner of my eye. He finally shifted, like the sound had snapped him out of whatever weird headspace he’d been in. His smile faltered just a little, then returned just as easil
