When it fully stepped into the weak light of my porch lamp, the bile rose in my throat. It looked like a dog, yes. But its fur was a patchwork of coarse, matted fibers that seemed to writhe on their own, leaking a viscous, black ichor. Its snout was too long, stretching out like a pulled rubber mask, and when it opened its mouth, there were no canine teeth—only rows of tiny, jagged human incisors that clicked against each other in anticipation. "Go on," the stranger whispered, a terrible grin spreading across his face.

It was like a thick fog clung to their bodies, blinding my vision. A finger ran up my spine, sending shocks of cold down my back. “Such a tender little morsel...” the stranger sighed. A freezing body pressed against mine. They grabbed my shoulders. “Dibs! I haven't eaten since last Monday.” “No!” another growled, tearing at my hair and thrusting my head back. A nose pressed against my neck. The thick stench of rot came from its flesh as it inhaled deeply. “No, she's my meat. My fresh, bloody meat. I'll tear her to beautiful ribbons. You'd like that, wouldn't you, doll?” he whispered harsh in my ear.

All he wears is a simple black t-shirt and grey sweatpants -- somehow, that only makes him hotter. However, something bizarre catches my attention. The stranger is glowing a faint, sparkling pink.

Jesse gasped as Marcus tugged off his shirt, revealing a scarred, muscular chest. “You’re lucky it’s the apocalypse,” Marcus muttered, leaning down to bite at Jesse’s collarbone. “Otherwise, I’d have high standards.” Jesse cackled, then moaned as hot lips traced a path down his chest. “Shut up, I bet this is the first time you’ve even touched another man.” “Nope.” Marcus scuffed, his tongue flicking over Jesse’s nipple. “Second.” Jesse’s eyebrows shot up in surprise, “Really, who was the first?”

Fingers clutched slippery pale, her nails digging, stained with red as she tugged sinewy flaps free to expose glistening meat stretched over bone. Stripping the skin, the stranger’s front soon opened like the pages of a book, one telling a tale of ribs and lungs, spleen and intestine, heart and blood, she searched for what made her different, better. One that singled her out as more deserving of his attention, his kisses, his love and affection. This, this slicing, this sawing, this tugging and excavating, this peeling back the skin and diving underneath, this made sense. First, she’d find the answer and then . . .
