Summer Reads 2023 Novels & Stories

River grumbled. "Or work," Summer continued loudly. "I might go there for research. I want to write a book about Antarctica." Seeing Summer's annoyed expression, Louis' face turned sour. "Hey, Brandon. Please don't tease my daughter. I won't forgive anyone who ruins her smile." Brandon laughed in satisfaction. "Okay, sorry. I'm still sleepy. My words are getting out of control." "Daddy, just ignore Uncle Brandon. He does like to tease me and River. By the way," Summer suddenly observed the phone screen more closely. "Who is she?"

Maybe I was destined to feel this only for him. "Well we have to leave you now, Joshua has to open up the salon and I have to meet with the real estate agency." Anthony said as he and Joshua got up. "Well see each other this weekend for camping, Summer you said you know a perfect spot." Huh, Summer had no clue, somehow I think she never even went camping. "Yes, my driver will pick us all up and drop us off." Summer said, her eyes shined as she looked at Anthony. It was either the shine of love or the shine of a hangover, either way it was nice to see.

He saw Jake instructing the maid what to be done inside the villa. "Where's Summer?" He curiously asked Jake in his formal tone when he didn't see her around the house. "She went out early, she said she would meet a friend." He replied. Making him felt gloomy all of a sudden. She went out early today, since it was her rest day she took the opportunity to buy something for her mom and her sister Kylie, her birthday was coming by the end of the month and she wanted to surprise her and send her gift in advance.

She had enough confidence to believe things might turn out in her favor. After a brief pause, Ben relented, his voice less rigid. “Alright, let’s say I agree. How long are we ‘acting’ for?” “Three months. After that, we part ways, and I’ll get a ticket out of the country. My family won’t be able to pressure me if they can’t reach me,” Summer replied, leaving out the part where she had overheard her mother and Mrs. Lucas talking about setting a wedding date in three months. Her plan wasn’t about breaking up, it was about sealing the deal with marriage.

The next day. Summer got up very early. She woke up almost at 7 am, and decided to go for a walk in the park near the neighborhood. But before she could leave the room, Amara came to her and said, “I’ll join you.” “Do you know where I’m going?” Summer put on her hat and looked at her. “Of course I do. Isn’t it the park downstairs? I’m going, too. Now that I’m pregnant, I need to give my baby some fresh air.”

How could Summer have known that Catelyn was Alicia? Summer thought, 'No. I have to go see her. After 20 years of separation, will she accept me?' Summer stumbled and broke away from Braylon's embrace, trying to go outside. However, her body gradually could not bear the intense emotions. Horrible memories crept into her mind. Summer began to convulse, feel dizzy, and vomit violently. She vomited all over Braylon and crumpled the hem of his shirt. Braylon got Summer back to bed in time.

She stared at him, intently. “One crazy summer, he exchanged with my place. I was delighted to be free of Cedric’s wrath and Caiden was delighted to meet all of you. He became obsessed of being outside and not only that, he was also obsessed of you.” I bowed down and couldn’t help but clutch my head as I remember those summers I spend with Alex. Did I really do all this with her? Am I really that romantic as a child? I guess, even if I lose all my memory, I am still sweet. I continue listening to my twin and can’t help but bite the straps of my bag so as to endure the pain on my head.

Bella dashed to the door and placed two umbrellas next to it, while I walked over and zipped up her school bag for her. A gentle breeze swept past the window, carrying the rich, malty scent of fresh bread from the streets below. Somewhere out there, spring was quietly blooming. The world outside our door was silent and vast. We weren't waiting for anyone to come and take us home anymore. We had found our own way.

Leaning forward, she furiously scanned the page. “There’s a gala at Paramount Theatre on Saturday?” Rowena said then looked up. “I can’t get an invitation, Summie. You’re the one with family in high places.” “Very funny! No, not that.” Summer glared and pointed to the bottom of the page. “This. The story about Dr. Lovejoy. Accompanied by a picture of him with you.” “What?”
