I threw a massive, heavy gray hoodie over my bound chest and stared at my own reflection in the cracked mirror, actively forcing my shoulders to drop forward into the careless, defensive slouch of a typical teenage boy navigating a hostile environment. His voice, too, sounded different after he practiced for over a week. To further conceal his identity, he wore an artificial beard that added to the disguise. I took off my uniform revealing the disguise I had underneath, which was a maiden skirt, a big shirt I had taken from the alpha’s room, and one of our maid head supervisors’ scarves which I had stolen. I studied the bit of black fabric trimmed in red feathers he wore around his eyes. “I’m the King of Creatures now.” He flashed his teeth proudly. “I have to be able to disguise myself somehow.” I eyed the ankle-length black coat he wore with the billowing sleeves and embroidered flames along the bottom and gold threads depicting vine designs along the open edges and the sleeves. “You’re a towering giant and what you wear is hardly inconspicuous, I fail to see how this is a disguise.” I tugged the mask, letting it snap back against his forehead slightly.

An hour later, he was completely blonde, even his eyebrows. He put on the clothes that Gringo had brought him, a shiny black leather jacket. Gringo had brought him a picture he took of one of Paco's most trusted men who walked by his side. The address of the man who was called Tatu. Tulio was disguised as the boy, Tatu, and in the middle of the night, on the back of Gringo's motorcycle, he descended on the alley where Tatu lived.

I leaned against my locker, slipping my dark glasses on as James strolled up beside me, backpack slung lazily over one shoulder. "Morning, partner," he greeted with that infuriatingly smug grin. "Morning, handsome nerd," I shot back under my breath. James chuckled. His disguise was painfully effective — oversized glasses, rumpled button-up, hair perpetually a mess. No one suspected the "awkward new kid" was an elite hunter who could dodge a silver bullet in his sleep. "Still playing the tragic blind kid card, I see," James teased, watching as a group of cheerleaders offered me pitying glances down the hall.

Jessica asked. Chris replied, “From what I know of Bradley, he’s not a coward. The only reason he hasn’t fought back is that he’s afraid his father will be killed. Otherwise, he would have gone straight to Drake’s house and killed him already. Bradley said there’s someone beside Drake who can disguise himself—he makes human-skin masks by hand to become another person.
