Fresh wood and kindling were in a large brass basket next to the fireplace. “I hope you find the room satisfactory, Ms. Brown,” Victor said. “Oh, yes,” she said. Lexi forgot that he was there. He placed her laptop on a desk across the room. Victor walked to the bed and placed her suitcase on it. “Would you like me to unpack your things?” “Oh, no, that’s all right,” she said. “There’s fresh water in the basin over there and there are books on the bookshelf if you like to read before you go to sleep. I’m afraid we don’t have cable.”

I needed it to wash the mud off my wounds, but they refused to let me get close. My colleagues were guarding the place, and they were all glaring at me. "Ms. Hedge found this! You don't deserve it, bitch!" Fortunately, this island was abundant with resources. Wilderness survival was all the craze a few years ago, and many content creators came here to get useful footage. They also left useful stuff behind. I'd skimmed through everything during my search for water. I went to the dump and scrounged some plastic bottles and a cast-iron skillet.

, Croads, a middle-aged woman with brown hair and glasses, said. Except, it's not. She's dealing with enough right now. "Are you close with the victim?", SSA Briggs questioned, looking at me curiously. Briggs is practically a teenager, with shaggy blonde hair, very thin. "She's not a victim. Don't call her that. Her name is Amelia, and she's a survivor", I couldn't stop the words from flowing from my mouth. "The only one", Briggs uttered. "So you are close to her? Have you considered that being the reason for not catching him yet?", Croads said coldly. "Croads", Loveless snapped, shaking his head at her.

“That’s right. I have never loved you. I saved you, coaxed you, and called you my wife… all because you’re strong and could keep me alive. In this cannibalistic apocalypse, emotions are the most useless thing. Only self-interest keeps us alive. Now that you remember everything, do whatever you want with me.
