AVA'S POV “For a queen you are, you're getting a bit too comfortable with these humans,” Rowan whispered, his breath tickling my skin and his voice husky and laced with a hint of warning. My gaze narrowed, eyes flashing red with a hint of danger as I took in his words. “And what makes you think so, my love?” I purred, my voice dripping with sweetness as my fingers trailed his bare chest down below to his hard member. Of course we were lying naked in all our glory, skin flawless yet had a pale color to it, and this was absolutely normal being vampires.

“Clara claims she was chased by vampires. Red-eyed ones.” Viktor’s jaw tightened just slightly. “And you believe her?” “I believe she’s terrified,” I said evenly. “And I believe she saw something. But if you’re here, I’m guessing you’ve heard whispers yourself.” A muscle in his cheek ticked before he gave a slow nod. “There are…rumors. Stray reports from the northern covens. Vampires with crimson eyes, faster than the wind, leaving no scent. But they are not mine. None of my people have crossed your borders without permission.”

“There’ve been whispers. Nothing solid. Just… rumors. There was one I’d heard about a grave.” My brow arched. “A grave?” “Yes. An empty one. They said two corpses lay on either side, drained dry. Whoever stumbled on it swore it was linked to Dracula himself.” I rolled my eyes so hard it hurt. “Dracula? Really? That’s the story floating around? Most of those tales are campfire trash meant to spook kids.” Her frown deepened, though a flicker of curiosity lingered in her gaze. “Maybe. I’ve never seen a vampire myself. Tell me the truth are they trying to spark another war?”

Maybe I should do my independent research without my vampire guru this time. I tossed the books on my bed when I reached home. Mom was going to be real late tonight for she had a night shift at the hospital. I would read about vampires for once and for all. Then I snatched one of the nearest books and began skimming it on my bed. One book was about the history, origins and other general information about vampires, and also another was all about the folkloric tales and legends of various cultures and places. Only a few pages mentioned about the children of vampires and humans. And of course, they were exactly what Cammie had told me. I slammed the book shut.

UNKNOWN POV I am washing my face and having a drink from a lake when I get the strong feeling I'm being watched as I turn I see a vampire coming straight at me, I snear knowing I'm not your average wolf, and I can easily take him. As he gets to me I grab him and throw him into the water, my flight or fight response is surprising me as it usually tells me not to fight but not this time. The vampire comes for me again and I let Kylo take control shifting into my wolf.
