The screams gave way to a low, continuous growl that vibrated through the very floor. Where Nate had been, a wolf now stood. It was the most beautiful and terrifying thing Kieran had ever seen. Its fur was a silky, shimmering midnight blue, a color Kieran had never seen in any wolf, ever. White wolves were rare, legends whispered about them. But blue? It was unprecedented, a color stolen from the deep night sky just before true darkness fell. Yet, this breathtaking beauty was marred, as if the transformation had been stopped midway.
