I tried to dismiss her with a wave of my hand, but the best I could do was budge my finger. “I’m okay,” I croaked like a frog that lived in the deepest, murkiest waters of a swamp. “I-it’s just that we have three hours, and-and no one would be brave to come down d-during that time so I… I’m sorry.” I’d never seen a more broken wolf.
