I hate that he makes sense. I hate that a part of me is actually considering it. But most of all, I hate that I know he’s right.
“Fine,” I mutter, standing up. “But if this doesn’t work, I’m coming back here to strangle you.”
He grins, raising his glass in a mock toast. “I’ll take my chances. Have fun.”

The club is loud, dark, and packed, the bass of the music vibrating through my chest as I step inside. The place reeks of sweat, alcohol, and desperation, and normally, that would annoy me. But tonight, it’s exactly what I need.
