The Covenant Of Water Book Review นิยาย & เรื่องราว

Ran my fingers along the spines. The book was gone. I stood in the empty library and thought about those three lines, and I thought about the contract I had signed that morning, and I thought about the very deliberate way the Covenant woman had paused barely, almost nothing, but I had been watching before she read the terms aloud. The pause had come just before the section about the child. As if she were choosing which words to use. As if the words in the spoken version and the words in the written version were not quite the same.

“Our mate doesn’t.” “We haven’t even given him the opportunity to know us.” Theia argues. “We haven’t even been around him. Allowed to bond and be close. To mark one another.” “The book.” The thought strikes me like lightning. I pull the book out of my hiding space. Small gold lettering appears on the cover. “The Covenant of the Coven.” I read aloud. I open the book to the cover page and read. “Forsake your selfish endeavors! The covenant shall be made to the Coven, not to oneself!

“It means your family was never supposed to stand alone.” Kael said nothing. Neither did I. I suddenly remembered the Queen Mother's words. Look at the one who quietly remains beside you. My chest tightened. No. I pushed the thought away. That letter wasn't about this. It couldn't be. Kael didn't look at me. Instead, he looked at the ancient book. “When was the covenant created?” “Before Aurelis became a kingdom.” “And why was it forgotten?” The stranger's voice dropped. “Because someone broke it.” A cold feeling settled inside me. “Who?”

The roots that held the guide shuddered, their anchors in the architecture loosening as the architecture itself began to fail. "No." The Spirit's voice was thunder now, real thunder, the sound of a law being violated. "That is not permitted. The balance must hold. The exchange must be made. One stays. One goes. That is the covenant." "Then make a new covenant," Eliana said, and she struck the bridge again. The stone shattered.

The world outside moved on as if nothing had happened but for Sarah, time had shattered just like the wine glass she had dropped the night before. She sat in her small apartment, numb, as the city buzzed beyond her window. The betrayal still clawed at her chest, a relentless ache she couldn't shake. She had spent the night tossing and turning, replaying James’ cruel words over and over. "You never matched my status." "Chloe does." Sarah’s fingers tightened around the coffee mug in her hands. She had given that man everything, her loyalty, her trust, her damn heart, only to be tossed aside like she was nothing.
