NOAH The boardroom on the top floor of the Aurora Wolves executive offices felt less like a meeting space and more like an execution chamber, the massive mahogany table polished to such a high shine that I could see the distorted, pale reflection of my own face staring back at me as I tried to keep my breathing steady. The weight of the platinum band on my left ring finger felt like an anchor, dragging down my entire arm, and no matter how hard I tried to tuck my hand into my lap, the diamond kept catching the harsh fluorescent lights, flashing a brilliant, blinding reminder of the absolute madness we had committed at two in the morning.

The hall stretched long and ominous, lit faintly by moonlight streaming through high windows. Another soft click—metal against metal. Jillian froze, and so did I. Then a voice rang out, low and deliberate. “I wouldn’t take another step, Jill.” It was smooth. Unbothered. A man stepped out of the shadows at the end of the hallway, dressed in black, a silencer fitted onto his pistol. I didn’t recognize him. Jillian tensed. “Graham.” My stomach dropped. Graham? He stepped forward. “Didn’t expect me, huh? You should’ve.”

There was no sign that rain was going to fall, so where did the rain come from? Ryker grabbed my wrist and started to run towards a car. He brought his car today. Great! So great! We got into the car and closed the doors. I looked down at my light pink top that was already a little drenched with the rain and noticed that it was showing my nipples. I gasped and wrapped my hands around myself. I looked up at Ryker and as expected, he was staring at me. "Pervert!" I muttered. "You can call me whatever you want..."

He took over the laptop. "Asshole." I mumbled as I closed the door. I walked around to find a pantry or maybe a fridge with drinks. As I was looking around, I bumped into someone. "Sorry." "It's fine, I'm sorry too. Didn't see you there." I looked up to see a man in all black. Black suit, black shirt, black pants, black watch and black shoes. "Jonah, you know that- oh.. Summer, what are you doing here?" Wesley entered the room.

I stopped crying after several hours and JD stayed with me the whole time. Before long, the day finally ended. This marked the end of whatever illusion I had of ever being with Adrian and the end of The Decadence of The Fallen as well. We were a band no more after that and the girl who once fell for the "Ice Prince" had given up on trying to melt his frozen heart.

A bitter laugh tore from my throat. Alpha Tristan. Slayer of rogues. Breaker of necks. But a girl says no and I fall apart. Somewhere above, the manor creaked. Life moved on. Without her. Without me. I dragged my knees to my chest, rested my shackled hands against them. I wasn’t going anywhere. Not today. Not tomorrow. Maybe not ever. And for the first time in my life, I didn’t care. --- The Next Morning The door creaked open.

He even remembered to remind me. He knew and remembered everything. And yet, he still cheated. His voice was hoarse while his breathing was ragged—like a dying fish gulping for air. A cold, sinking feeling spread through my body, like I'd fallen into an icy river. My limbs felt weak, and even my head felt unbearably heavy. Why would he send me a voice message while they were in bed? Did they get off on this? Without thinking, I called him. "Is there something wrong with the project?" I asked. "Or do your clients just not have wives and kids to go home to this late at night?"

His eyes paused when he caught sight of my long, pale legs, and he froze like he had been struck dumb. "Ugly, aren't they?" I asked quietly. Some mermen were disgusted by human legs. Sheldon had called them grotesque once. They were the most repulsive thing he had ever seen. Reginald panicked. "No, no! Not at all! Your legs are… Beautiful! So stunning that I… I forgot how it even works between humans and merfolk!" I blinked. "What?" He stammered, flustered. "I mean… I forgot the instructions in my love manual…"
