Rosella Mama and Stella had prepared a big feast. Different types of Spanish and Italian dishes and also the expensive liquor that was placed beside daddy looked heavenly. “Lets dig in, shall we?” Mama said. Taking a small bite from the cinnamon roll that rested on my plate, a moan erupted out of my mouth at the deliciousness. “So yummy~” Three pairs of eyes stilled on me. I shouted, frantically knocking on the door as I slid against it. It was already nighttime, and I'm still inside the church, where it was quiet and lonely, and I'm sitting on one of the benches while reading the letters from my village that I received on my birthday, with the moon as the only source of light on the words on the letter. I mumbled while reading the letter.

The Elders descend from the gallery. They look at the fire, then at the feast, and finally at the two of us sitting together on the floor, soot-stained and exhausted, but unbroken. The white-eyed woman walks to the pit. She dips a finger into the fat of the roast and tastes it. She looks at Clyde, then at me.

The dinner was a true feast with multiple courses of salad, soup, the main course of chicken, and dessert. It was filling and delicious. Rollo’s laugh carried throughout the garden and all seemed to be happy at least at my table. I looked over on occasion at the white priestess table still seeing Caroline in shock but also saw some who didn’t seem as pleased. I’d hoped Caroline wouldn’t have too many obstacles or too much resilience as it t

Chandeliers blazed with light, flowers carpeted the stairs, and musicians played lively tunes that echoed across the marble walls. The occasion was grand: a dual engagement feast. The entire palace bustled with excitement, for the matches symbolized not just romance but the strengthening of royal alliances.

I stepped back and turned to greet them, forcing my face into one of strength, of triumph. They needed to see reassurance. They needed to see potential. But I looked to my new Luna, and she was no longer looking at me. She was looking at the crowd. Smiling, yes—but not at me. Not with me. ⸻ The feast began at the end of sunset. Tables were groaning under roasted game, honey-glazed roots, blood-orange wine, baked tarts, and flame-roasted lamb. Servants flitted across the hall, filling goblets and beaming nervously.
