I didn’t know what magic smelled like, but this room felt like it had some. I stepped inside slowly, looking around like the brave warrior princess I pretended to be when I played with my dolls. So many books. Stacks and stacks of them, tall and wide and thick and dusty. I touched one of the shelves, my fingers dragging over the wooden surface until I stopped in front of one really old-looking book with gold edges. The title was shiny. “The Flare Witches.” Oooooh. That sounded cool.

“Did you hear that, Jane? In everyone’s eyes, you’re just a fool seeking your own death. “Be good and stay on the road. I’m in a good mood. I might even burn a little paper for you, so you won’t have to beg below.” Each word landed like a hammer blow against my chest. Before I could recover, Mandy’s impatient voice cut in. “Jane, do us a favor and hand over your bank password before you go, will you? “You’ll be dead anyway. No use wasting it.” That money was a life-saving fund I had left for my mother’s treatment.

Of her. She flipped through pages drawn in charcoal—some with shaking hands, some with precision. One page showed a girl surrounded by flame. Her eyes were glowing. Her silhouette, familiar. “What is this?” she asked. “It’s the record of the Fireborn,” he said. “There’s only ever one in a generation. Sometimes none. It skips centuries. But when the world begins to change—when things grow restless—that fire finds a home.” She closed the journal, her heart thudding. “Why me?”

Perfect. As I flipped through the chapters, the story heated up fast. The protagonist, a shy librarian much like me, was cornered in the stacks by a dominant stranger. His hands roamed her body without mercy, fingers teasing her nipples until they ached, then dipping lower to claim her wetness. I shifted on the couch, feeling that familiar tingle between my legs. God, why did these books always get me so worked up? My thighs pressed together instinctively, seeking friction.

He shifts back; putting a seat between us and truly looking horrified. Bibah simply shakes her head at our childish shenanigans and takes a sip of her iced latte, metal straw clinking in the Hydro Flask. “The Awoo Book Club’s pick for this week is H.P Lovecraft.” She pats the voluminous book atop the pile and I notice it’s the library copy of H.P Lovecraft’s Omnibus 3. “I’m so excited to roast his ass.”

Kennedy POV. The weather was bad, but I needed to get that new book, it's Robert birthday gift, who'd knew a grown up man would kill for the newest werewolf love book. I got into my car, drove carefully toward the local book store, they had the new book reserved for me. It was supposed to one quick drive, until I walked into the library. A girl was sitting on a bean bag, her blond hair was covering her eyes with overgrown bangs, she tried to huff them away from her face but to no use. She looked young, maybe she's just here with her parents, looking down at the book she had in her hands it was a kids story. Does she read for the local kids? Or is it just for her?

It looked as if it weighed a ton with pages the colour of ash. "Then let's get reading," King Kanyon announced. After two hours, Lucy still hadn't found anything on how to save the creatures living inside Jessica. The only thing she found was how to ease the symptoms of the supernatural fever. “Crap!” Lucy slammed the book closed when she got to the end. “We can't find anything useful in here. No potions, spells, sacrifices that can help Jessica."

“Fayne, I'll do my best to make you strong but please give yourself a few days to heal and keep reading the books I've given to you. That way, you can fulfill all of your promises.” “Okay, ma'am.” I responded and watched her leave the room. I looked at the books on the table and grabbed one and started to read it page by page. It had a lot to deal with ingredients that could heal common illnesses. As I continued to flip through the pages, I got hooked on the book and continued to read. Before I knew it, It was nighttime. I moved to the other book and as I looked through it, I saw that it was about how a human could harbour demonic powers.

Her breathing was labored and I also noticed that she was trembling, almost feverishly, each time she was unable to reach for the book, she ran into my chest. She was a small person, frail and fragile, like glass that would break soon, even though she was small, she didn’t want to give up on this particular book which made me even more curious. I grabbed her arms and twisted them behind her back, her body tried to follow the movement of her arm, but I held her still, placing even more pressure on her. “P-Please let me go,” she cried as her head dropped lower than before, it’s just as I suspected, she was a bit feverish. She didn’t fight me, she just stood still her body trembling softly, she

She was talking in her unconsciousness. Oh god, please help me. How will her fever subside? I won't do anything like that with her if I find out that her immersion in the rain caused her to get a fever. God, now what to do? Please show me a way. The cold wind caused her diary to drop to the floor. I picked up her diary off the floor and placed it back on the table, discovering in it the recipes for herbal tea.
