I took my time reading, and another hour went by. On finishing the third book, I realised I hadn’t read them in the right order. It seemed Finding the One was the first book, followed by The Claiming Rites, and then Under the Red Moon. This was a trilogy that needed to be read in the right order. I stared closely at the books and found the numbers on them written on each book from one to three, just like I arranged them. These numbers were written on the drawn-out full moon on the bottle right of the book’s front page, and, being set beside each other in the formal order, the full moon glowed.

“Down here, we keep the most valuable of artifacts. A special silver chest was built to hold them all, a chest which took twenty years to build. Inside of that chest, you will find what you need.” As they continued, the room opened up, and Caitlin was shocked to see standing before them, waiting, dozens of vampires, all dressed in white, all with white hoods. They each held a silver goblet, each one filled with a white liquid. In the center stood a single vampire, a man with a long silver beard and piercing green eyes. He stared kindly at Caitlin and Caleb, holding a small silver goblet for each of them. The woman gestured for them to approach.

FINAL DAY OF THE AWAKENING Chaos’s P.O.V I was awoken by the beating of drums and the echoes of a chant you rarely heard even back in our home realm. A chant that was as old as time itself. I turned to find Xavier leaning against the headboard with his eyes squeezed shut.

Suddenly, they hear breaking glass and yelling. They could hear the wolf growling above them. The sound of a sword ringing through the air followed by yelps filled their little hiding place until finally there was silence. They heard footsteps coming towards the hatch door and voices. Rainn hugged Liam tighter as the sound of boots got closer and closer to the hatch. It springs open and standing there is a huge man with glowing eyes.

Alpha Kayden - POV The autopsy report Harris brought in arrived late, and I read through it in the library while he called someone to fix the shattered window. The findings were disturbing: Raven was indeed a werewolf, but her heart contained a dark core—an intensity unlike anything we’d seen before. It was similar to the aura we found in the abandoned Night Angel pack building, yet this one was stronger, darker. The report went on to say that Raven’s transformation began in childhood, fueled by an herb called Henbane, a plant that only grows in the desolate lands. Henbane, they said, hadn’t been active for decades, not since Raven was imprisoned. I set the report aside, my thoughts swirling

He appeared, his face white in the streetlights within the darkness of his hair and clothing, and his lips glossed with blood. “They heard the gun, move!” Heath ordered in a hiss and ran towards the house. He climbed to the first story effortlessly, reaching down to grab Aislen by the wrist. She felt Cameron grab her by the waist, lifting her up, as Rhett and Talen manhandled the woman Van Helsing’s body up, before all three men followed. As they reached the balcony of the second story, the front door burst open and a group of Van Helsings, in casual clothing or pajamas, and one wearing a towel wrapped around his head and a bathrobe, ran out, holding weapons.

After all, her Dad was down there. Caitlin dove down sharply, between the rows of olive trees, heading for Aiden’s villa. As she got closer, she spotted hundreds of corpses spread out, lying lifeless on the hills below. Vampires. Rexius’ men. Slaughtered. But as she dove closer, she could also see something else: corpses with white hoods and robes. Aiden’s people. Before she even landed, Caitlin already sensed that the worst possible outcome had occurred: Aiden’s coven had been wiped out.

They all felt like a shelter from the world, like a place for prayer and silent contemplation. The vampire finally stopped and faced them. She stared back at Caitlin with her large, compassionate eyes, and looked otherworldly. "We are at the turn-of-the-century," she said. Caitlin thought for a moment. "What century?" she asked. "The sixteenth, of course. It is 1599.” 1599, Caitlin thought. The idea was overwhelming. Once again, she wished she’d read her history more closely. Previously, she had gone from 1791 to 1789. But now she was in 1599. Nearly a 200 year leap.
