Together, they would find a way to win his mate's heart and make things right. Raquel's eyes were swollen from crying as she arrived home. Her mother, who was in the kitchen, immediately noticed her distressed state and rushed to her side. "What happened, my dear?" she asked, concern etched on her face. Raquel wiped away her tears before telling her mother everything that had transpired in the council meeting. "The Lycan King rejected me as his mate, Mother. He claimed he already had a mate, but he wouldn't even tell us who she was or where she was from."

“If not she won't be sneaking around behind our packs to go see that Alpha.” His words pierces through me and my hands clenches into fist at my sides. “She isn't sneaking around to go see him, she feels guilty, she wants to help, she won't stop until she helps them. I'm going to pave the way for her without her destroying herself.” “Okay, let me get this. You would rather destroy the rest of us Lycans future instead? We have been building this for years before she even came into the picture.” He’s right. If I wanted to become Lycan king, I had to have a clean record before the supernatural council. The ones that govern the whole species, and associating with the rogue council will put a huge

Alpha Roan says grinning. “What irony?” I asked. “Well, he ordered your father to hand you over to him so that he could make you the Queen. He wanted you since you were a child. He was just waiting until you came of age. But then your father revealed that you had a few problems and I have a feeling that he exaggerated those problems. But it did turn the King off.” Roan explained. “Has the Lycan King found a Queen?” Ethan asked, anxiously. “Not to my knowledge. Which is why I think it would be extremely stupid for Summer here to go hunting him.” Roan explained.

And for the first time all night, I found myself genuinely smiling. The stranger eventually lifted his glass. "Darius." I blinked. "Darius?" "Darius Draven." The name hit me immediately. My eyes widened. Everyone knew that name. The Lycan King. The most powerful Lycan alive. Darius seemed to notice my surprise. "That look never gets old."

She paused and stepped closer. Taking Nyx's hands into her palm and holding them tight. "The Queen ordered the death of the maid who had snuck her way into the King's chamber. The kid died in her wo
