She pressed her head against mine, a comforting gesture that grounded me amidst the chaos. Oliver, still shaken, turned and dashed from the chamber — likely to find his family — leaving us in uneasy quiet. Lucious and Bella padded closer, their eyes wide with curiosity and awe. They howled softly, voices blending with the distant chorus of wolves outside. Then Selene appeared at the doorway. Her eyes burned as she took in the sight — Liam beside Aurora. Jealousy rippled through her stance. A low growl escaped her throat, echoing like thunder in the chamber. But when Liam turned toward her with an unspoken warning, she froze — and fled into the darkness.

*****Leo POV***** “Wake up, you slugabed,” I hear Owen but keep my eyes closed pretending not to hear him. I need just one more hour of sleep but I know the annoying cousin of mine will never just let me be. Maybe I should indeed lock my bedroom door to keep him out.

A pair of large, round eyes are looking at them. He sighs and raises his arm. Instantly, a small, brown owl flies towards him and settles on his arm. The owl hoots happily, curious about the two people in the cave. “He just wants to be friends with you,” Lavi says. “He? Who?” Anna asks. As if answering her question, the owl lands on her lap. Anna touches its fluffy feathers and she smiles as the owl affectionately hoots at her. “An owl?” She exclaims, smiling widely like a child. “Is he cute?”
