Deep within the folds of existence, far from the mortal plane and even the watchful gaze of Olympus, the ruins of the Shadow Realm quivered in a broken silence. Once a fortress of impenetrable darkness and sprawling chaos, the realm now resembled a battlefield that had been swallowed by its own defeat. Great black spires, once proud and menacing, lay shattered in heaps of ash and crumbling stone. Rivers of smoke oozed across the cracked and broken ground, slithering through the rubble like dying serpents. The very air itself tasted of bitterness and failure, thick with a heavy stench of burning magic and decayed hope.

The ground beneath their feet seemed to shift and writhe, as if alive with unseen terrors. "We must tread carefully," Aric warned, his eyes scanning the darkness for any sign of danger. As they ventured deeper into the Shadow Realm, they encountered twisted creatures born of nightmares, their eyes gleaming with malevolent intent. The Shadow Realm was not quiet. It seethed with whispers. A thousand voices layered atop one another, words too old to decipher. The ground beneath me was not stone but ash, crumbling beneath my weight. Each step sent ripples into the blackness, and creatures moved within it shapes with too many limbs, faces half-formed, eyes glowing faint and hollow. They did not attack. They watched. I clutched the dagger to my chest, though even I knew it was useless here. The blade was silver and iron, forged to kill flesh and fur, not shadow.

Edward’s head snapped up. “They’ve found us,” he said sharply. “Who?” “The remnants. The echoes of what we destroyed.” His eyes flashed with urgency. “When the Shadow Realm collapsed, not everything died. Some of it hid here — feeding on what’s left of me.” As if on cue, the light fractured. From the cracks oozed black tendrils of smoke, writhing like serpents. Faces formed within them — not human, not wolf, but something ancient and hateful. “You shouldn’t have followed me,” Edward said, stepping in front of me as the shadows coiled closer.

At the bottom, a single hallway stretched out, lit by flickering bulbs that hummed with a low, irritating frequency. The guard stopped at a heavy door near the end of the hall and he shoved Rebecca inside first. The room was small, the walls reinforced with silver-plated mesh that shimmered under the dim light. It was a cage designed to keep the supernatural suppressed, a vacuum for power. Rebecca was shoved against the far wall. She felt the cold bite of metal against her wrists before she even realized what was happening. — clink… clink. I wiped the blood that stained my lips as a devilish smile crept up my lips. I was really astonished because of how beautiful the room looked. There were lots of books of different genres.
