Ryna points to the oval, and he and Gino lead me over near the gym building. “Can you please help me get these clothes off.” I ask. Ryna carefully helps me remove the shirt I’m wearing, and then Gino holds me up as Ryna pulls my pyjama shorts down. I feel the familiar surge of power rush over my body as we prepare to shift, and my body prepares itself. Gino steps back carefully, making sure I can stand on my own. I wiggle my toes in the cool grass and turn to look at Ryna and Gino and smile, before turning around and shifting. Enyo shakes her fur out before mind-linking the guys. ‘Come on, we need to go for a run.’

“I sent it to the laundry. It was just lying out here.” Her wolf growled. Clearly, the idea of shifting in front of me is making her nervous. ‘Stop being a dick. Give her your shirt. Then she can check us out.’ Thor said. Not a bad idea. I started unbuttoning my shirt, and when I took it off, she stepped back. Clearly, she thought it was a trick. “I’m just offering you something to cover yourself up with, Sinclair,” I said. They huffed again, turned around, and looked back. I raised an eyebrow. She wants me to turn around before she shifts. Cute. I raised my hands and turned around. I heard the familiar cracking of bones, and then I quickly turned around before she could grab the shirt.

“Shifting?” I looked between the brothers, my tears drying up. “What’s that?” “When we reach a certain age,” Kross answered, his hand still on my face, “we go through something called a shift. The shift is the brutal awakening of our true nature, when our human body breaks, twists, and reshapes to make way for the beast inside.” “Axel was a late bloomer,” Kade continued, his voice filled with sadness. “He shifted at the age of twelve, when the age we were meant to shift was eight.”

Stupid shifter strength. “Well, this has been fun, but as you see, I can’t shift. So if you don’t mind, I’m going to leave and never see any of you again.” I tried to pull my arm away again. Tyler’s fingers dug deeper into my arm and it started to hurt. I was going to have new bruises in the morning. “Tyler, you proved your point, now let me go.” “I would love to let you go, but there’s a problem with that,” he said.

Lucian reached his hand out as he stepped closer. I swallowed thickly, took his hand, and gently squeezed it. “Thank you.” Lucian stepped back and nodded at Grayson. Grayson turned back to the microphone. “Midnight Moon pack, I give you our newest shifter, our hellhound, Shade.” I looked at Azalea, and she flashed me a beautiful smile. I winked, and her smile widened. I took a deep breath, looked forward, and as I stepped forward, shade came to the surface and shifted.
