It was a tracker. I dug deeper into the bag and found a children's storybook, ‘The Hunting Game.’ I skimmed through the pages, there no words on them only colored pictures but what I thought was a story for children was actually a morbid depiction of the game. I had to find the bird before the wolves do or they would eat its heart. There were other characters in the book like the doctor, the police, and the civilians. In total there were twenty-four of them excluding the bird, the same number we were. There were no rules written in the book only the vague riddle at the end. ‘He who has the bird has the power.’ And the warning from the voice, ‘don’t tell anyone about your role.’ My head ached

With a sudden burst of speed, she lunged toward the basement entrance. Pop! Pop! Bullets ripped into her back, the impact nearly knocking her off her feet. Blood spattered across the walls, but she gritted her teeth and pushed through the pain, slamming into the basement door and stumbling down the steps. Calvin raised a hand, signalling for the hunters to stop firing. The room went still except for the faint crackle of burning debris. They moved in cautiously, searching for her body—but instead of a corpse, they found a narrow, hidden passage leading down into the basement.

Why had they stopped? A figure walked from the center of the hunters, a red cloak blowing behind it. Something glinted in the moonlight as it approached. Whoever it was, was small and petite. A gust of wind ripped the hood from its head and pale hair spilled out. "The Huntress," Rashida hissed, the venom in her voice causing the pack to wince. "No mercy, whatever it takes. We will wipe them from this place. Now!" She howled a blood-curdling shriek. The pack joined, their voices intertwining to create one eerie low that echoed through the night.

The two of us walked around and it wasn’t until I caught sight of one book that my attention seemed to diverge completely from the place that we were in. “Hunter? I did a little twirl in the middle of the room and started combing the bookshelves to see what treasures I could find. I was just too excited to have found this place. I came across a smaller leather-bound book that had a weird symbol on the front and when I opened it, I realized that it was a history of the Hunter's. I decided to keep that book just in case I needed it. I was totally in my own world when I felt someone’s arms go around me and breath in my ear. "I see you found my favorite place in the house." My body shivered at the contact. I thought that I was going to melt into a puddle right then and there.
