Don had been saving it since September, when he had finished the essays. He had placed it on the shelf above his desk, the designated holding place for the Christmas book, and had not opened it once.

The rushing noise filled the city of Black Crest as the rapid pattering of the rain fell on Monday evening. The rain came unexpectedly, and there was no further warning for any storm coming from the weather forecast. Lucky for those citizens who came home early from work, they just had to settle in their homes waiting for their supper to be cooked. As for those who need to take an extra hour at work, the situation left them no choice but to travel home and take their risk waiting for the heavy traffic jam caused by the heavy rain.

Ten years had passed since the sky broke over the Sea of Salt. The "Rainbow Fall" was no longer a terrifying memory; it had become the central epoch of the new calendar. In the year 10 A.R. She watched the fat raindrops roll down the railing of her balcony. Placing her uninjured hand on the metal, she felt the cold moisture. They say that it's just water. But in reality, it’s not. The rain was a killer. It left her paralyzed and numb. The emotions she was feeling before had disappeared in the midst. Thunder that rumbled in a crunched way infront of her broke her stance. To her the sky wasn't just grey but infact it was black. A fearless black. A never ending black.

Right now, with what happened in this world, nothing is safe anymore. The once dark clouds had unleashed their payload, and a torrent of black rain fell from the sky, painting the world outside in an eerie, inky darkness. The pitter-patter of the rain against the windows echoed in the room, creating an unsettling atmosphere. Liam's gaze lingered on the unnatural downpour, and a knot of fear tightened in his chest. He could feel the unease settling over the group like a heavy shroud. The darkness of the rain seemed to seep into the room, casting long shadows on the walls.

Like staring into a shattered rainbow, their colour is the only thing visible in the middle of this black, miserable thunderstorm. I slowly shrug my jacket down my shoulders, if I have to shift and defend myself I’d rather not wreck it. Deep black canvas, waterproof from the rain and dense, it feels like I’m wearing armour. Zeke likes his leather jacket, White Forest have their cloaks. I skulk about like a serial killer. So I’ve heard Naomi and Leona say anyway.
