A shadow emerged from behind a gnarled oak, and I was ready to strike—until I saw him. Hunter. Dressed in a loose tunic, a satchel slung across his shoulder, he grinned at me like this was any other day. “Fancy seeing you two here.” I exhaled sharply, lowering my weapon. “Hunter, what the hell are you doing here?” He held up a weathered sketchbook. “Would you believe me if I said I came to draw the ruins? The landscapes here are—” “—dangerous,” I finished, stepping toward him. “This place isn’t some scenic retreat. Harper and Layla are hiding somewhere in these ruins, and we don’t know what kind of traps they’ve set.”

What business did Allison have with a witch of that caliber? My gaze drifted away from the list, landing on the chaos of the desk. Only then did I truly see the mess. It wasn’t just papers; it was a library of obsession. Documents were scattered everywhere, burying the wood surface. I picked up a few books, reading the spines. ‘Tales of the Undead’. ‘The Physiology of the Damned’. ‘The Half-Demon’s Plight’. All titles about vampires. They weren’t particularly strange books for a Hunter to possess, I had read most of them myself during training. Know thy enemy. It was Rule Number One. When you hunted apex predators, knowledge was the only equalizer.

I breathed hard, dragging my body up as I crawled forward on all fours like a fucking dog. I didn't stop, didn't even look back, not even when the air around me stiffened. Not even when the animals went quiet and the trees froze as though they had held their breath. Because deep down, I already knew what this meant. Growing up, I heard stories, rumours by the other slaves about the Hunter's Territory. No one dared to cross last this line, not even Alpha's or Betas and especially, not Omegas like myself. This land belonged to someone or something more deadly and mysterious.

Why had they stopped? A figure walked from the center of the hunters, a red cloak blowing behind it. Something glinted in the moonlight as it approached. Whoever it was, was small and petite. A gust of wind ripped the hood from its head and pale hair spilled out. "The Huntress," Rashida hissed, the venom in her voice causing the pack to wince. "No mercy, whatever it takes. We will wipe them from this place. Now!" She howled a blood-curdling shriek. The pack joined, their voices intertwining to create one eerie low that echoed through the night.

They were called hunters. In his dying prayer, with the token of his faltering breath, the first Chavére Alpha provoked the ancient truce and etched it into his bloodline. In every decade, under the hunter’s moon, hunters with skills and strength comparable to the Lycans woke to protect wolves. And for a bleak moment, there was hope for the wolves.

Claire interrupted, “What exactly is a Hunter?” He took a deep breath, steadying himself. “A hunter is a type of human who was or is a Mythical bounty hunter. They have enhanced skills; fighting abilities, enhanced senses. I think one or both of your parents were Hunters. Especially after seeing you in action. Haven’t you ever wondered how you could fight and keep up with the wolves and vampires in your coven and pack? Love, you ARE A HUNTER.”

Cedric Killian Hunter was dying. And even though whatever the doctors told him he knew that his time had come and there was no point in stopping the inevitable. He did not even want to do that in the first place. Cedric Hunter had been a man of his own name and caliber and he had certainly made his own place in the world and in the society with his skills and charms. The country which had consigned him as an outcaste and a bastard had been forced to give him the place and the title that he actually deserved. ELENA’s POV The day has finally come. Starting today, Hunter will no longer be just an Alpha of the Storm Riders pack, from today onwards, he will be king above all packs and rule throughout the lands of the northern region. It feels all so surreal and I have to pinch myself just to make sure that I am not dreaming. I remember being so excited that I could not sleep at all last night, tossing and turning in bed until the crack of dawn. And because of the lack of sleep, I feel like a zombie right now.
