When I turned to look at Hunter, he was already looking at his twin, a glare on his face. "Hey, brother," Zion waved at Hunter and before I could blink, Hunter charged towards Zion with a growl, and in front of the class, Hunter shifted. Hunter 7: The Hunt Begin I double-checked my belongings to ensure that I had everything I needed in my backpack. My backpack contains very little; I just have a few clothing and other items that I believe are essential to bring. Particularly my gun. I intend to return soon after speaking with Elina Forsythe, and then I will finally learn what I need to hear from Grandpa. I don’t know what I might learn from them yet, therefore I don’t have any plans as of now.

Curious, I reach for it and brush it off. "Ooh," I gasp. It's not a book about werewolves. It's a hunter’s manual. Frowning, I flip through the pages and notice it’s is filled with gruesome details of how to hunt werewolves, how to kill them, and how to torture them. I glance up at Lucian, arching my brow. "Why would your parents have a book about werewolf hunters?" I ask, thumbing through more of the horrifying pages. Lucian lifts his head briefly to look at me, then lowers it back down to the stack of papers he’s sifting through.

Her eyes lit up as she saw them. "Yes, they are. Do you read those kinds of books?" Hunter asked, glancing at the books and then at Aleah’s reaction. He had never seen such enthusiasm before. Then again, he wasn't the kind of person who enjoyed socializing. Perhaps that's why he was known as a master tactician and strategist—because of his solitary nature. He spent more time at the camp than at his own home. He didn't have many friends outside the Astral Guardian Camp and was probably closer to his guns than to people.

A hunter’s charm. I only know this thanks to Luca showing this to me in one of the library books in our prior visit. Instinct kicks in before thought does. My hand burns. Power surges up my arm, fierce and wild. I throw it out without thinking. The light shatters. Fire bursts from my palm, slamming into the hunter. They stumble back with a shout. I push to my feet, heart pounding. The air shifts again, colder this time, and water floods out from beneath me, pooling across the tiles.

Carefully manoeuvring through the dead bodies. Her head turns back and forth between us. Like she didn’t know where to go. As the image became clearer. I see that I am surrounded by bodies too. Blood splattered across my bare skin. I wasn’t wearing anything, like I had shifted. You couldn’t tell who the killer was, but we had both lost a lot of people.

The hunters knew that they were getting close. They crept forward, their weapons at the ready, until they caught sight of Tate standing in a clearing, his massive form silhouetted against the moonlit sky. Without hesitation, the hunters opened fire, their silver bullets ripping through the air and striking Tate with deadly force. Tate came to realize at that moment that he had been on a bad path for so long and barely escaped from the hunters. He went back home to his brother, and Marcus gladly allowed him take back his place knowing that he really had changed.

The Blood Ridge Pack. I have read a lot about them from the Hunters’ library, but it isn’t the same thing as being near them. As being in the same room as them. Their energy…there is something about it that makes me halt in the middle of the space. “Get out of the way,” someone screams. I move just in time before I get run over by a drunk college kid in roller skates. His laughter travels down the hallway with him, and I move in that direction. Searching for something.

My stomach dropped. "What?" He nodded. "I hired investigators to find you after you dared to run from me that morning. It took them a week to find you." Something was slamming hard against my rib cage in a really violent way. I knew what it was. My heart. "I found out who you were—Matteo Leone, a twenty three year old bisexual man, living in your father's house like a prisoner." He leaned forward slightly. "I learned everything about you—your urm... useless family, and your situation within hours of funding you."
