Bandaged. As if someone had tried to patch a shattered vase with gauze and hope. My skin itched under the layers, tight and raw. My chest felt wrapped in something stiff. My breathing ragged. What happened? What the hell happened? I squeezed my eyes shut. Willed my mind to rewind. Rewind. Rewind.

He shuddered at the mention of our father, “I digress. Second, where the fuck do you keep the bleach around here?” Laughter bubbled in my chest, and I fought to hold it in, but was unsuccessful. “Why are you laughing right now, Rosie? You scarred me for life,” Chris scrunched his nose, looking like he smelled something rotten. “Hey, you found her,” Shawn stepped through the sliding doors, offering me a warm smile. “You bet I fucking found her,” Chris dipped down, digging through the space beneath our sink. “And I saw his dick. I take the bag from the drugstore into the bathroom and get to work. It’s late at night and I’m nearly done with my hair. The blond is now setting in my hair. I was pretty pleased with the way the bleach came out. It wasn’t as stiff as I thought it might get. I change the channel on the old school TV again, uninterested in whatever nonsense is on this channel. I keep clicking through, killing time until I can rinse out the blond. My mind goes blank as I keep scanning channels. There’s a romance movie and the lead characters rush into each other’s arms in the rain. There’s a nature documentary about wolves. There’s a murder crime tv show. And every single glimpse makes me think… about Drake.
