I'd gotten a pretty good sense of what they were doing here, but I'm not sure it was something I'd want to dig too deep into. After years of wading through the worst, I thought the world had to offer, dealing with trafficked humans is about the worst thing I could imagine. That book they'd shown me had put a new spin on things. Some of the faces in there belonged to children barely out of diapers. The thought of why they were in there made me sick.

Something—no, someone—shifted beside me. Blinking hard to adjust to the darkness, I scanned my surroundings. The entire truck was full of girls. Human trafficking. The words surfaced in my mind. So this fucking nightclub wasn’t just dealing drugs—it was running a full-blown trafficking operation. All of these bastards deserved to die. Still, I didn’t panic. First, I was confident that I could easily escape on my own if I needed to. And before we left for this mission, Asher had given me an earring embedded with a tiny communication device.
