Exactly what I wanted. Then I lowered my gaze. “They attacked me.” The room went still, and Kane didn't move for a moment. Didn't speak. Didn't blink. Then something dark flashed across his face. “What?” “Talia attacked me,” I swallowed. “And as if it wasn't enough, your rejected mate stood there and defended her.” His expression hardened instantly. “And the entire pack saw it,” I continued. “Maybe they don't respect me because I haven't really been accepted as Luna.”

I walked to Kael's side. He held out his hand, and I placed mine in his. "Everyone," Kael's voice rang through the temple, "this is my fated mate, the Luna of the Winter-fang Pack, and your future Queen." As he finished speaking, the golden mate marks on both our necks lit up in unison. It was the sacred symbol only true fated mates possessed. The crowd was completely stunned. The blood drained from Damon's face, leaving it as white as paper.

But something was wrong. He didn’t smile. His gaze did not soften when it met mine. It felt distant. “Iris, daughter of Kael,” the elder said, “do you take Alpha Damon as your mate?” “I do.” My voice held. I meant it. The elder turned. “Alpha Damon, do you take Iris as your mate and Luna?” Silence. Too long. The crowd murmured A whisper rose. Damon stepped forward. Then he turned to face them all. “I reject this union,” he said. “The Moon Goddess does not bless a broken Luna.”

I looked at him, then at her, then at all of them. “How the hell am I your Luna?” They exchanged stunned looks. “You are the Luna of Arcadia. Naturally, ours too,” Mother explained. I stiffened. Luna of Arcadia? What does that mean? Then who is the Alpha? My breath hitched. I quickly stepped back. If I was Luna… then… no, no, no… I felt it again the snap. My body grew heavy. Tears burned behind my closed eyelids, begging to be released. I didn’t want to remember. Not now. Not ever. My knees weakened. “Please…”

"I, Alpha Zane, Reject Kiara Grace as my Luna and Mate. I never want to see your face ever again, you're dead to me" Kiara cried out in pain but never once did she look away from his eyes. His eyes that were once filled with love for her suddenly stared at her with repulse and hatred. "How…. How can you do this to me?! I'm carrying your child!" Zane seemed surprised by that then he suddenly glared at her.

“ Cover your cognizance, mama , pater . ” I glanced at my parents and cringed. “ For your information. I have n’t fucked someone differently. What you felt, ” I felt a vicious grin spreading across my face. “ What you felt was only the morning if you do n’t accept. I ’m not your mate; I rejected you. ” I growled. “ The Moon Goddess blessed me with a alternate mate. It’s further than what you ’ll get. ” I teased. “ No. That’s not. That’s not possible, ” he stammered. “ Clara is my mate, and I intend on marking her. If you know what’s good for you. You ’ll accept the rejection. ” Leon blazoned. “ I ’ll noway accept, ” He snarled. “ You ’ll come back to me, Clara. He

He smiles to himself, seeing a perfect opportunity to ridicule and humiliate Leila even more. “I’m glad you finally came to your senses,” he begins, giving the crowd his full attention, “you see, when I first made up my mind to be with the phoenix Luna, I immediately rejected my so-called mate but then she would not accept my rejection. She was naive and could not see the big picture but now that she does, I think it’s only fair that she backs up her word with some action, she should openly accept my rejection.”

The day I lost my werewolf side and the willpower to live. I gulp down the glass contents as I walk to the bathroom, trying to ease the dull ache starting to form over my heart from such devastating memory. I lean over the bathroom vanity and stare at my reflection. Instinctively, my hands smooth my messy brown locks as if trying to deny the resonating rejection words in my mind. -"I, Queen Luna Susie Stevens of Crescent Moon, reject you, Nina White of the Woodlands pack, as my Mate."
