Turn The Page Books Novels & Stories

I didn't know what she's up to but I believe she's absolutely a weird one. Well, before I turned the page, I made sure she finished reading her part. I was the one whos's turning the pages of each book, and her job was to read the right page and mine was the left one because you know that already, she couldn't touch things. "Are you done?" I asked after I'm done reading my part, she said yes and I'm about to turn the page when she stretched her arm and I paused. "What?" I asked and she pointed something on the book, and my eyes went wide.

“We improvise it live.” Pauly handed her a slim, battered paperback—Mockingbird, cover worn, pages gutted to hold a wafer-thin transceiver and a micro-SD slot. “Your new copy. Same weight as the real one. Press the title twice if you’re burned; it wipes your last three hours and plays an audiobook. Press the author twice and it pings us with location.” She slid the book into her tote without looking. “And if I press the spine?” “It complains about being objectified,” Pauly said.

She went down on her bead, placed the book into the side table, and flipped it to the next page to continue reading. She creased her forehead when she noticed that the next page was torn out. “No. This can’t be happening,” she silently whispered while shaking her head, disapprovingly. The strong wind of night air passes through the glass window pane, causing the pages to flip in one second. Dawn made a frustrated groan when she could find the page where she read it. The knock from the door interrupts her from searching the page to look for the interesting one.

I find it strange that there are no notes or marked pages. I pick up the second book and am surprised that there are notes, but not in my hand. The handwriting is that of a man and seems old. Curiously, I follow the directions for the hand motions and see a pink smoke illuminating from my hand. Concentrating on a medical terminology book on a shelf, I call it to me, then stop it before it reaches me. “Page 75,” the book opens to the page, and I hear the words in my head. “Stop,” I say, then, “Page 283.” The pages turn, and then I hear the words again. “Stop, go back.” The book goes back to its place on the shelf. Her steps carried her around the next corner into a room that looked more like a gallery, filled with shelves of old, bound books carefully displayed. She held her breath as her fingers itched to caress the binding of old leather and relish the sound of crackling as she turned the pages steeped in history. “Ah, so to get you to notice me tonight, I should turn into a book, no?”

I'd been reading it a lot lately, desperate to find answers. I flipped through the pages, noticing something odd for the first time. A page was missing. Ripped out, to be exact. I blinked hard, bringing the inside spine of the book closer so I could properly inspect. I hadn't been seeing things. The paper left on the page was uneven, an indication that someone had torn a page out. Why would someone do that? I scanned the surrounding pages, trying to make sense of the missing section. It seemed to be a crucial part of the book, detailing werewolf lore, ancient rituals and witch potions.

The magic book opened on its own, Rico and Niffa patiently wait for whatever the blank page will going to write, they were seated, together, at the long wooden table surrounded by the wall of books. A light was formed, and the empty page was filled with letterings in a freestyle script carved within the thin sheet of paper. They narrowed their eyes trying to read the first letter, it was too bright, and the lettering was almost as white as the paper. The light vanished and the letters turned into tinted black, thick and printed, not written by a hand. The whole page was filled, it says,

She could feel the eyes piercing into her, like they wanted to snatch her soul. All of a sudden, the book began opening on its own. Slowly at first, but with each page that turned, the next page came faster. Soon, the pages were whirling back and forth like a tornado, a loud noise filling the room. Alexa panicked internally. Her heart was racing, almost matching the rhythm of the pages. Then, the book stilled. She inhaled, and exhaled deeply in a bid to slow her heart down. Finally, her eyes fell on the page.
