Mitch unclenched his fist and sent a deafening look in Marcus's direction. "After school. You're dead Boaz. Dead." He intentionally bumped into Marcus and walked further into the school's premises. His polo-type sweater and shorts complimented by his dark shoes and white socks gave him that 'Tyler, the creator' look, and his black ass rocked it pretty well.

Deep down, I know his attempt to woo the fairer sex with his hybrid jock-nerd appearance is destined for failure. My name is Emma and I'm what they call a nerd. Not only that I have multiple nicknames like fathead, uglyface, the list is endless. Summer is finally over meaning it's back to school well for me more like I'm going to hell, you see I've always been bullied. It started of being an emotional thing but then they started bullying me physically, shoved me against the lockers, some girls actually slap me but I don't do anything I just walk away.

I'll remove my thick glasses and braces, and then I'll straighten my curly hair. I think most of our classmates don't like me because of my nerdy appearance. I even feel like I'm the millennial version of Betty La Fea because of how I look today. I was about to lower my phone to my bedside table when I found myself looking at Aiden again. He was still sleeping soundly. So, I quickly returned my phone to the bedside table and opened the camera on my phone, taking several pictures of Aiden while he was sleeping.

It was as if he stopped growing only to be stretched on one of those medieval racks a half-foot more. The side of his face was mostly obscured by a black scraggly beard, that clung to his fair skin like winter devastated ivy tendrils. The man almost belonged, but not quite. He dressed in scrubby jeans like all the others and wore a t-shirt from some band, that had been in fashion before he was born. His hair was spiked like some boy-band prima donna, but something about his eyes was just book-ish. Like inside that persona was a little nerd. Then there was an old watch on his wrist, which shouldn't be seen.

Says one up front. I sigh. I'm not getting out of this easily. "Nara. Not getting the rest." I look over at Nathaniel . He is twirling the knife around his fingers, with nails polished in chipping black paint. This guy scares the shit out of me. Way more than the front two idiots. He has his hair up in a tiny little pony tail. In front of his ear he has a small tattoo of a snake wrapping around a sword. His plaid joggers have black straps around them, and his short boots seem massive compared to his ankles.

Urien walked, and the entire atmosphere changed. “Fuck me!” Mat burst laughing. I had no idea how he did this, but he ticked every box of a bullied nerd in high school. Button-down short-sleeved shirt, with a green and orange striped tie. I bet he couldn't find an uglier tie, or perhaps he hand-picked it just for the kicks of being ridiculous. A tan with a blue rim, boring knitted vest. Khaki dress pants, an inch too short for his height, glasses, and a ridiculous sleek back with a middle part in his hair. He looked stupid, nerdy, and like a wimp. You would stop and think one second about how deadly he was.

Once I made my choice, I glanced to the corner table where, sure enough, my best friends were waiting. Jaden spotted me first. He’s tall, Black, queer as hell, and is literally the most sociable person I know. Even the popular kids tolerate him...sometimes. Today he's wearing a cropped lavender hoodie. He waved dramatically like we hadn’t seen each other in years instead of twenty minutes. “Girl, get over here before I whoop your ass,” he called to me, loud enough that a couple of other students turned around. I dropped my tray next to his with a clatter. “You’re so extra, I swear.”

A ray of the sun slowly emerged from the horizon and shone on their faces in golden light. Gemma had felt that there was something different about Nero from when they first met. It was only now that Gemma noticed Nero wasn’t wearing those stiff square glasses, and his hair looked a little messy. Nor was he wearing a plaid flannel shirt that made him look like a guy from the eighties. Honestly, for Gemma, Nero is better like this. T-shirts, leather jackets, jeans, and sneakers fit his image perfectly. “Sorry, I can’t say it.”
