They both snarled at the same time, and I couldn’t help but be amazed by these Alpha Females. I pointed a finger at the younger one while my eyes were focused on Lady Katarina. "She needs to explain why she was there. It’s none of my business, but if I were you, I would keep an eye on her."

Devon sat in the Dining Room and again reviewed the proposal he had before him. It was the result of a years worth or research and consideration. Dominique and two of the shrinks were about to arrive and receive the briefing on the proposal, something he had kept secret from everyone until recently.

He scratched his forehead and turned the book over, reading its name. "Under The Dome," he answered, showing her its cover. It was a large book, one that she had seen in Sophie's collection before but had never picked up. "It's by Ste-" he was cut off by the sound of her phone ringing. "Sorry, one second," she said, reaching for the device on the side table. Picking it up, she saw it flashing with her mom's name. Arder sighed and walked outside to take the call. "Mom?" she asked after pressing the large green answer button.

**** Later that night, I was escorted down to the dome. I have a whole group of people behind me and Sage is beside me. Two men open the door to the dome. I walk in to a sea green pool. It’s lined with rocks. It bubbles at one end and smells like minerals, but there’s an electric feeling to it. It’s deep. You can’t see the bottom. The people walk all around the round pool and stand at its edge. Sage looks at me and nods. “Walk in.”

“Thank you for everything, Dad… but best of all, for putting me in the hands of Dominic.” Duke and Dominic exchanged warm smiles. *** ONE WEEK LATER The foundation was laid. The building skeleton stood firm—raw concrete, steel rods reaching for the sky. 'Dominic Shield' was no longer a dream. It was real. Breathing. Buzzing with activity as workers moved in the background like ants, each action echoing purpose. Dominic stood at the edge of the site, hands in his pockets, sunlight washing over his rolled-up sleeves. His gaze swept the structure, slow and steady, like he was imprinting it in memory.

"Dome is a poor city. Most of us come to Neev to earn a living. The women in Neev are very selective about the job they can render, so we are allowed to do the jobs Neev women won't do," she said, and I did not need to figure out the kind of job she was talking about.

They moved deeper into the library until Pat stopped at a lone pedestal in the center of the room. Upon it sat a thick, dusty tome bound in what looked like pale, cracked leather. The cover bore no title, only a symbol: a blazing fire crowned by three horns, with jagged lines splitting its base. Pat opened the book carefully. “Mad Kings of the Underworld,” Jo read. She leaned in, studying the strange, curling script etched in faded ink. She flipped through the brittle pages until something finally caught her eye. A name. Malrik. Jo’s heart skipped.

Now it’s your turn. Chloe sat quietly in the garden under the trellis, wrapping her arms around her knees. The day had cooled to a gentle breeze, and the lavender scent lingered in the air.
