A rather loud knock rang out behind us, and Damien looked up from me toward the door as it opened. I turned my head to see the same guard I’d seen with the red head I was looking for enter the room.
“Blake, you remember Marcus,” Damien said, but his words seemed so far away as the girl came up behind him and entered the space as well, holding a basket in her dainty porcelain hands.
“H-Hi,” I said as her eyes locked with mine, and I saw her take a step backwards before dropping the basket, the smell of fresh picked herbs flying through the air. But it couldn’t mask that familiar scent. “And this is?“
