I scream, pure rage, and something inside me snaps. Pain rips through my fingers. Claws explode out, long, black, deadly. My eyes burn. I slash upward. Four deep gashes open across the scarred vampire’s face , from eye to jaw . He roars, staggers back, blood pouring . Everyone freezes. I stare at my claws, dripping red. “What…” I breathe. The small face with a wonderful smile can not help but make the people on the street fall in love. Riven looked at the small body in front of him, at the small cool hands that were holding his, at her jealous smile that sometimes looked back at him with a rare flutter in her heart. This girl is a sadistic vampire? That smile is that of a bloodsucking demon in the night? I never went with him, but I was never against it. “I think I can handle it,” I answered as I continued to eat. “Good, because it gets bloody,” Nate said grimly. “I’m not squeamish,” I responded. “But can you handle the blood? A warning. Footsteps, too light for deer. I stopped breathing. Then I turned. They were there. The same three. The rogue vampires. The woman stood in front, her perfect hair and sharp coat pristine despite the undergrowth. The shorter man flanked her left, hands in his pockets like this was a casual run-in. The tall one stood to her right, silent but alert, eyes locked on me like a predator sizing up prey. This time, none of them smiled. “You came back,” the woman said.

Their heads snapped up to find a handsome young man with sandy brown hair and crystal blue orbs, sharp figures and a muscled firm, his skin pale and whitish and his fangs displayed as he smiled. A vampire! Shailyn gaped, resting her chin on her palm. "Are you on the menu fine man?" She winked and the guy chuckled. Skylar stared at her puzzled. The vampire placed his hands on the desk and leaned his body towards Shailyn, Skylar stared at them with amusement. "I don't do little human girls" he whispered and Skylar gasped. Filled with confusion, he inquired, "What are you doing?" via mind link. The smile on her face disappeared upon hearing Beau's voice.
