Vampires Blood Scent Novels & Stories

Lowering his head slightly, he took a deep breath drawing in a scent which drifted through the tunnels. As a werewolf, Carlisle’s sense of smell far surpassed that of most creatures. His nose could pick up details that ordinary people would never notice. Vampires didn’t sweat the way humans and werewolves did, but that didn’t mean they lacked a scent. Far from it. Every vampire carried a distinct odor. The lower-ranking vampires were especially easy to identify. Most of them smelled awful.

The base notes, however, are very peculiar and not quite human. Sorry. I should probably explain: all human scents have base notes of blood, sweet and savoury and alluring. Vampires have a different base scent, one of shadow and danger. This scent does smell of blood, but in a strange and off-putting way, like how the sweet scents of edible flowers or artificial cherry flavouring never smell as appetising as the soft fragrance of honey. (Not that this scent smells floral or like cherries, of course, just that it smells only superficially of sustenance.)

My mind wanders to where he has been all day. I take a deep and once again, Caius’ scent fills my nostrils. All Vampires have the same scent that is cool and minty but Caius smells more intoxicating. Or is it because we are connected that I'm always feeling like this? Maybe when a vampire changes, their pheromones from being mortal carry over, adding a hint of realness to them. Or perhaps my vampire's scent stands out to me simply because he has claimed my blood. I swallow hard, internally repeating the words a second time.

I decided to make my way back, still keeping my guard up in case whatever it was decided now was the time to strike. Cautiously I began walking home, still feeling the presence near me. I tried sniffing the air a few times but kept coming up short until I finally got whiff. I know I had smelt that scent before, the Ancients had taught me that all creatures had a distinct smell and made sure I learnt each and everyone one of them. I kept trying to rack through my brain on who this scent belonged to then it finally dawned on me. Vampire!

He started tracing circles on my palm "What do I smell like?" "Cinnamon, snow, musk, menthol. The menthol is how we identify vampires. All of you have a distinct scent of menthol attached to your individual scents. Tamara reminds me of pines and strawberries. Plus the menthol." "I have to stop her from stabbing the dentist everytime we pay the poor thing a visit. You are indeed what you eat." He said fondly, his body shaking with silent laughter and I chuckled. His next words were somber.

That much was clear even though she was lying unconscious on the ground. “Is it… its blood?” Matthew declared unsure; her blood had the sweetest scent, which none of the boys had ever come across, this made them even more on edge. Werewolves had scents, but it was attached to their wolf’s auras not their blood, that is why they were so confused. “It is, I did not know someone scent could be linked to their blood. Is it because it is a different species?” Joshua asked with disgust evident in his voice.

There was a drop in his tone when he said ‘your first time’. Was he talking about being blood bank to a vampire or in general? “Come on now, Kara. Don’t think I can’t smell your innocence. Why do you think Vishkar was ready to lose an eye for you?” I swallowed, the image of blood staining the counter at the bar flashed through my mind. “Vampires, especially strong ones, can smell an untouched woman which is rare to find in a place this Viper’s Fang.” I was a virgin, and it was no fault of mine.

Alex asked, pulling me to his side as if he could hear my thoughts. "Yes." Cam nodded. "He heard back from the council and he did say he was going to have a meeting with us tomorrow morning to tell us about their decision…but I guess the invader situation alters things." "Wait…how did we even know it was actually a vamp?" Derek frowned. "Rogue wolves have red eyes as well and so do ghouls…" "It's their scent." Cameron said to him. "Vampires have this eerie metallic scent to them…almost like a cold scent that makes you shiver. The border guards all felt it."

What the fuck happened here? “This way, watch your steps,” she murmured as she led the way. An acrid and downright unpleasant smell had engulfed the entire room. The smell hung thick and heavy in the fairly large space. I wrinkled my nose. “What’s the smell?” The downside of vampires is how sensitive we are to scents and every other sense, but dead to any kind of emotion. It was then that I noticed the origin. One rotting flesh on the corpse of another. The blood had soaked through the carpet and stained the floor probably. I halted in my tracks, the corpse too familiar.

There was a long and uncomfortable silence before he finally spoke. “I was under the impression we were going to court our lovely Casey in accordance to custom,” he said softly while looking directly at Geo. When I shook my head while I scrambled to produce a viable lie, he held his hand up to stop me. “Vampires have a sense of smell that far exceeds that of a human. I can smell his semen, so please don’t make it worse by lying to me.” “Seriously?” I said as I sniffed the air. “I don’t smell anything.”
