The plot was this slow unspooling of glitches and emotional dissonance as 'he' tried to live up to a ghost. You don't see that kind of existential mech-philosophy often in the fandom. It makes you look at the usual action scenes differently.

The trending algorithm there loves romance and AUs, so you'll see a ton of stuff like 'Sonamy' or 'Shadamy' stories that get thousands of votes. There was this one super long, cheesy human AU with Sonic and Amy in high school that seemed to be on the featured page forever.
