I wished all that happened didn’t happen. Pondering on the past and hoping things turned out differently are just wishes and wishes aren’t horses. I sigh deeply and open my eyes. My hands move away from my stomach. I pick up the book I dropped beside me and flip it open. Just as I am about to pay more attention to my book and pick up from where I stopped, my phone starts ringing. It’s an arm’s length away from my grasp. I pick it up. It’s an unknown caller and I have never seen this number before.

“Oh” Before I could say something, my phone rang, almost making me jump. I looked at the number, and a wide grin stretched across my lips upon realising its Aiden. Turning to Caden, I shot him an apologetic smile, not even allowing a second time to spare. I rushed out of the door, sliding the green icon and pressing my phone against my ear. *** So any thoughts? I leaned against a marble pillar in the reception area and tried to calm myself down. I kept accidentally bypassing a section of my address book. I took a deep, shaky breath, closing my eyes for three seconds and then scrolled carefully now. My thumb hovered, and then I saw the contact I was looking for. I hit the dial button and placed the call, placing the phone on my ear as I impatiently listened to the long spaces between the rings. On the fourth ring, the line clicked open. "Mr. Langford? To what do I owe this call?"

The shrill ring of my phone echoed from the kitchen island, cutting through the silence. “That’s loud,” Aaron noted, his voice dropping an octave. I laughed, though it felt a bit strained. “The walls are paper-thin in this place. Every sound carries.” I slipped out of bed, grabbing a discarded shirt to cover myself as I padded into the kitchen. The phone was already on its second ring. I pulled it out of my bag, and my heart sank when I saw the name on the screen: Orrick. I took a breath and answered. “Hello?”

In the height of the moment, as the world narrowed down to the sound of our breathing and the ticking of the clock, my phone—discarded on the rug—began to ring. *Ring Ring* I opened my eyes snap open once I heard my phone ring, I was having a dream which now I don’t remember because of how scared I got from the ring. When I looked over the clock it was 2:38 AM. what in the hell, who would call me at this time. I laid back in bed as I reached my hands over the nightstand to grab my phone, when I looked at the ID it was unknown, I placed in it my lab I was worried who would call me at this time, or maybe they were spam but my gut told me to answer it.

"You're forgetting that I'm hotter too." I rolled my eyes. Well, at least he's got an ego to help balance out his brain. My phone rang, but for the life of me, I could find where the ringing was coming from. There were so many books on my bed that they were muffling the sound of the phone. After throwing the books off of the bed, I finally found my phone and answered it. "Speak to me."
