I pulled back slightly, just enough to look at him. “I don’t mean—” I started, but the words tangled. “I just… need someone.” My throat tightened. “Can you just be my friend?” The question felt fragile. Dangerous. Necessary. His eyes searched mine. For a long moment, he didn’t answer.

Nevertheless, I forced a small smile, and admitted honestly, because lying to her felt like breaking something as fragile. “Yes, I do have a real friend,” I said and continued, “a real friend wouldn't leave you because of what you cannot give them and they know you can't. A real friend will help you in times of need, a real friend would be happy when you're happy, and sad when you're sad. A real friend is like your living diary. Who do you think deserves that title?”

He needs to be constantly reassured that he's got the right support and friends who care about him so much so that they are willing to take time out of their busy schedules to help him out or talk to him. It's always the ones that seem happy that ; need our attention the most . When they are happy they are flying high and nothing can bring them down , and when they are sad they hit a low that is so deep , that it's too hard to get them out and you need to rely on professional help .

“… something’s wrong.” I looked down at my hands. She knew me too well. “I just…” The words caught in my throat. I didn’t want to sound desperate. Hell. I didn’t want to sound too needy either. “I needed my best friend.” I said in a quieter voice. The line stayed quiet for just a minute. “I’m here.”
