(Renata Pellegrini) > One week later: I always believed in the phrase: "What nobody knows, nobody spoils", I read this phrase in a post on i*******m when I was sixteen, I don't remember who posted it, but this phrase was marked in my memory and since then I bring this to my life, even though I never have many people around me.

"I do not know what to say." "Then say that." "I do not know what to say." "Okay. That is a start. Now keep going." I sit down at the table. He sits across from me. The kitchen is quiet. The eggs are smoking. Neither of us moves to open a window. "I am scared," I say. "Of what." "Of September. Of school. Of the future. Of the fact that I am twenty years old and I have no idea what I am doing." "You are twenty. You are not supposed to know what you are doing."

Before Aunty Matilda visited today, I had an argument with Goodness over the phone. It started when I told him that I firmly believed that some people knew too much to the extent that they are unable to accept that they actually know nothing. Goodness said my statement was false. He said when you know too much, you are aware of the infinity you do not know. Hence, the realisation that you know nothing at all.

I explained “You can all you like to yourself but you know and I know.” “Nope,” I popped my ‘p’ “I don’t know anything and you shouldn’t be making assumptions, Vanessa.” I knew it would never be possible, not like I’ve considered it, but I knew as much as I knew my name that it wouldn’t work out. Hell

“I meant it was so good. Come on, you couldn’t figure that out on your own? How are you even competing with me for veep then?” Oh, it’s on. “Don’t tell me you’ve never heard of the phrase, ‘never assume anyone knows anything’.” I asked, a smirk making its way onto my face. “That’s a key business trick, yunno?” “Oh, it was? Thanks for telling me about it then, I believe I am one hundred percent ready for the position now.” She finished pointedly, leaning in to pick a fry off my plate. “You might as well give up, Dylan Thomas.”

Maybe after another drink, I would. Lifting my glass to my lips, I watched the waving hands and desperate faces with interest. Sometimes I missed being that young. So naive to the world and less jaded. Being a young twenty-something thinking I knew everything and that I was invincible from such asinine things such as heartbreak. Foolish.

One particularly nasty woman suggesting he wasn't actually our brother. "When you're the tiniest, youngest of the family, you get underestimated. Ignored. It's a blessing and a curse, however, if you play your cards right, sometimes you can be completely invisible. So you can hear things that no one knows you heard. See things they don't know you see. Knowledge can be far more powerful than brute strength in the right circumstances."

I mumbled taking a swing of my water. "You work best when it's last minute," He mumble. "It allows you to not over think it.""Right," I scoffed. "I'm going to go take a nap,""See you tomorrow Joe.""By kiddo..."He knows I hate being called kiddo, considering I have taken him down several times, it just make me want to beat him even more. I am by no means a "kid". That's what has always gotten to me. Adults think they know everything because they're older. Yes, they know more... But so do we. Also I basically fend for myself.I wasn't going to take a nap...

Dad promised me a new house. Apparently, they said I'm too young to stay on my own. I'm the last child, so I'm being babied by my parents. Honestly, I don't mind it at all. There will be a day when they'll have to let me go and be my person. So, I just let them treat me like a kid. The thing is that they don't know that I'm growing every day. They think I'm just an innocent kid that can't sin. If only they knew my body count.....I don't even know my body count. Weird.
