The Raven Wolf King: Wolfless
“Me neither.”
We walk down the sidewalk, the city lights reflecting off the glass buildings around us. People pass by in small groups, laughing, talking, living their lives.
Raphael squeezes my hand lightly. “You seem lighter.”
“I am,” I admit. “Tonight helped, and I love being out with you like this.”
He glances at me, and his lips pull into a small, easy smile. “Then we’ll do it again.”
We keep walking, turning down a quieter street where the noise fades into a low hum. That’s when I see it. A narrow staircase leading down beneath the sidewalk, lit by a single red bulb above the door. Music thumps faintly from below, like a heartbeat.
