It was just silent against my skin, but still very much there,
By the time I stepped out, I felt… not better. But at least ready to get on with the day. I got dressed, clean, simple, comfortable, then sat on the edge of the bed staring at the cards laid out in front of me.
Black cards and business cards. A whole life reduced to a set of strict instructions and about nothing else. My fingers hovered above one, and I grabbed it.
“Fred.”
I muttered, punching the number into my phone. It was the first time I ever used it, ever since Ysara got it for me. The phone rang once, twice, and then connected.
