My throat felt dry. "I..” I started, glancing at Leonardo who wore a sly and sinister smile, "I, Natalie Rossi, a student of New Rome University, hereby admit to compromising the values of my school and betraying the trust of my family by using a false identity to gain admission and secure a scholarship," I paused as my heart pounded heavily and sweat trickled down my face. “My actions have brought shame to my family, who were unaware of my deceit, and have put them at risk," my hands trembled and I swallowed hard.

The management staff and security guards exchanged confused looks. Finally, one guard asked, “Aren’t you the wife of the guy who lives in Building Four? Do you know this thief?” Bailey stammered, unable to explain anything properly, only repeating that he wasn’t a thief. I let out a cold laugh. “He’s a thief all right—a thief who steals other people’s wife. He’s way worse than a burglar.” The crowd erupted into even more gossip, and the whole scene descended into chaos.

The bodyguard following him snapped, “How dare you?! The pup Mr. Hoills’s sister is carrying is born to be his heir! How could you call it an illegitimate child?!” Someone sucked in a sharp breath. “What?! Hoills, the Lycan Chairman who rules over all packs?!”

I shoved past the crowd, heading for the back door, the night air slamming into me as I pushed outside. I dragged a hand through my hair, my chest heaving, the ache inside me refusing to die. Why the hell couldn’t I get her out of my head? I hated her for being a liar. I didn’t believe a single word she said. I knew she only wanted me to stop punishing her. Chapter 3: Lily POV Alpha Xander stood there, still at my words. He was clearly not expecting it. His body slowly retreated from mine and he peered at me like the creepy man did earlier— as if I had gone mad. Of course, his reaction was justified because Lisa in the book could never admit boldly to cheating on him but there was a reason for my bold and fearless provocation:

For the first time, she looked into his eyes and all he could see was a young man who has walked through volcanoes, and not a thief. But she dared not believe all his stories, they might just be another bait to lure her into another trap.

When he didn’t immediately lift it, my smile sharpened into something dangerous. "You know what I do to liars," I said, my voice almost gentle. The way you’d tell a child not to play with matches. Liam stared at me, confused. I took a sip of my whiskey and then continued. "You know, there's nothing I despise more than liars and manipulators. I had a brush with one of those snakes years back that left me jaded for a long time after. You remember him, right?” “I do.” Liam replied. I could tell he was already getting uncomfortable.

I fell on purpose. "She knew about your disloyalty. And when you slapped her, that shattered whatever was left between you." Zoey burst into hysterical laughter, but Julian's face turned grim. Suddenly, he grabbed her by the throat. "How dare you—do you have a death wish?" Zoey's face turned red, but she looked up at him with adoring eyes. “Because I love you, Julian… You lied to me. If I have to suffer, I’ll make sure you do too."

“Since you’re already going, how about I tell you a little secret?” She smiled and leaned close to my ear. “That cornea of yours... was actually given to me.” My fingers froze in place, and Joanna looked even more smug. “Surprised? Your husband and son teamed up to deceive you, all for me.” “To be honest, Laura, if I ended up like you, I’d have bashed my own head in already.” She tore open my deepest wound without mercy, and though I remained expressionless, my fingers were digging into my palm.

I handed him the flowers, and he placed them beside him. "Thanks," he muttered, still eyeing me cautiously. I sat across from him, knowing that what I was about to say would sound insane. "What I’m about to tell you is hard to believe, but please, just listen." Marcus folded his arms. "Don’t lie to me." I shook my head. "I won’t. I swear. My name is Liam, not Daniel. And I’m not from this world." Marcus let out a short laugh. "You expect me to believe that?"
